i gotta say, when i took wellbutrin, i had "brain zaps". i asked my
psych about it, and he said it was normal and typical...and that they
would go away. they did go away. (i was relieved) maybe they can't
always document everything about some of these meds. i think people
all respond differently to them.

Yeppers, Giggz. Everyone I know, and then some, who has been on Wellbutrin
and then tried to get off has gone through the zaps. They can happen with
any and all sudden decreases in AD's.

Now that you mention it, my two goldens are getting THE bath treatment (groomed)
this Friday. They'll be glad that you're concerned.

Even Xanax has brain zaps reported, but it's very unusual.

To quote: "The phenomenon is most commonly associated with paroxetine (Paxil,
Seroxat), fluoxetine (Prozac), venlafaxine (Effexor), sertraline (Zoloft),
duloxetine (Cymbalta), fluvoxamine (Luvox), citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram
(Lexapro), and tramadol (Ultram)."

What I'm referring to is this:

Yes it's normal...

////////

No, it's not normal. Possible? Yes. Probable? No.

Incorrect replies, such as "yes it's normal" need to be corrected. (note - I
didn't take Laurie out on the carpet, or even mention her name).
Some people count on these groups for information. It should be as accurate as
possible, since some people are grasping at straws when checking out information
on newsgroups. Should they take what they read as gospel? Of course not.
Some people, however, are reaching out - and all of us who are non-professionals
should be very careful in such replies.

I think that's a prudent way to view things.

I think you'd have said that it had been YOUR experience, and that YMMV.

Stating that it's "NORMAL" just isn't correct. I doubt you'd have claimed that
it was, in fact - unless you were to have looked it up and found that to be the
case (which it isn't).
Even Xanax has been shown, in cases, to produce a similar reaction. It's just
not the rule - let alone "normal."

Well then, I stand corrected, Elliot. And that's all that you needed to
say! However, if anyone "relies" on Usenet for 100% correct answers, they
shouldn't be on Usenet.

I should've said "imho" when I answered the OP re: Wellbutrin. Are the zaps
normal? Yes, I think they are.

nahhh, i'm sure i would have just said it was normal, because it
happened to me...and that's what the psych said.

Actually the best chocolate is no longer Dutch but Belgian.

P. (did you vote in the Indiana primary?)

Did Hershey Pennsylvania move to Belgian?

>P. (did you vote in the Indiana primary?)

Sure 'nouf. I voted in the Democratic primary, as there was little reason to
cross over to try to reject any specific candidates Two main issues for me
- Dem. Prez and my district's house of reps.
Julia Carson, long time black lady representing this district, died. There was a
special election about 5 months ago and her son was voted in to be the temp.
newbie to the house of representatives. ANYONE would be more qualified, so I
voted against him in the special election, and I voted FOR someone who is very
qualified in the primary. He won anyhow - and will go against the Republican who
he beat in the special election.

Dem. Prez saw Billary go from 10 points or more ahead about a month ago, to just
eking out 51-49 of the vote. Indiana was like most other places. The larger
cities (all of them except for one) voted for Obama. Everywhere else (rural)
voted for Billary. 4 years of college - votes went to Obama. Hi skewl drop outs
went to Billary.

Ah yes, the one person in the Republican primary that I'd have liked to vote
against was Dan Burton. He missed almost every vote over the past few years. In
most cases he was golfing. He'd have done well with Eisenhower, but still...

I'll vote against him in the general election - so that's okay too.

Just to stay within group topics, I have NO anxiety about walking to my poling
place, no anxiety about signing in (with photo ID, required now by law here), no
anxiety about the 'must stay put' while voting - but anxious as hell that Bush
is still in the white house

Oh yeah, the simple answer woulda been "yes."

May I ask if you'vre tried either of them (Paxil & Doxepin) alone, and in
that case which one you consider best and why? Also in that case, what
additional effect did you notice when adding the second AD to your
treatment?

I might ask my doc if I could try one of these, but he's likely to start me
on just one of them so I wonder which one of them I should suggest?

I fell in luv with them in college. A good friend of mine had one - and my
border collie mutt mix and he would play (and fight) all the time.

When my 1st bestest dawg friend had to be put down, I had my first golden within
3 hours.
My wife and I met through our dogs (25 years ago). My golden, her Sheltie.

We now have my 4th and 5th goldens, along with our 1 year old Australian
Terriorist.
