John, Paxil and Doxepin, while both are antidepressants, they each belong to
a different family of ADs and do different jobs. Paxil might at first make
you a little drowsy, but your body adjusts and it is best taken during the
day. Doxepin has more of a sedative effect and helps with sleep. If you
don't have problem sleeping, then you probably wouldn't need Doxepin. Both
of them are good for anxiety. Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

In answer to your question if I noticed any difference when adding the 2nd
antidepressant (which in my case was Doxepin). YES - but a good difference!
Doxepin helped calm my anxiety and enabled me to get better sleep, while
Paxil stabilized me during the day. Nanny
