best linux software ---- free and beats microsoft

Today I learned "ubuntu linux" www.ubuntu.com and kubuntu linux
"www.kubuntu.com"

You can go to their web-site and download it for free or you can ask
for a FREE CDROM to be shipped to you.
Ubuntu linux co-exists with debian linux and is very good for desktops
BECAUSE THERE IS NO ROOT IN IT AND THE FIRST USER IS AUTOMATICALLY A
SUDO

commands to remember are

sudo
dig google.com
ftp ftp.cs.umn.edu
login id anonymous
password "email id"
to send and receive large files to check your speeds

ubuntu linux comes with mozilla or some such browser.
it installs flawlessly.
kubuntu linux comes with kde4.0 which wants you to do some work to
memorize the commands.

the screen is much easier on the eyes than LINUX.

NOW DID YOU KNOW THAT (I heard this) that google earth and lots of
google tools are SERVICES built on open source SOFTWARE AND NOW THE
GNU LICENSE IS TIGHTENED SO THAT EVEN SERVICES SHOULD PROVIDE THEIR
source code for free. is this true, i heard this please verify if it
is true. if it is true, google should face significant competition
from the open source community.

Now, I am going to try and get people to write open-source ERP there
is a GNU OPEN SOURCE ERP ---- just check the GNU page.

But first check out ubuntu and kubuntu. the only difference is that
ubuntu uses GNOME while kubuntu makes you do some work and use KDE 4.

If you connect camers and other USB devices and mobile phones
ubuntu8.04 (w kde 4).
Cut paste from tmp to kubuntu

audacity ----> cut and play mp3 files.

cat /etc/fstab to see partitions
logout and login merges the updates to the screen

ctrl-a works to select all files and enter.

unlike NERO -> converts from wma files too.

skype is excellent.

libdvdcss for playing dvd's

copy CD is simple
click only create image
