Not any more

Numbing pain, sometimes with tingling, in the thumb and 2.5 fingers.
The nerve responsible usually only connects to the thumb and first 2
fingers plus half the ring finger so the best indicator it is CTS and
not something else is that only the thumb side of the ring finger
hurts/is numb/tingly. The other side is unaffected as is the little
finger.

OTC painkillers were ineffective and it wasn't bad enough to bring in
the heavy artillery (I mostly noticed it when I was driving, something
to do with the angle of the wrist, and sometimes pain would waken me,
again probably because the wrist got on an angle while I was
sleeping).
Had surgery and it 'cured' it instantly. Surgery only takes an hour or
so, usually with only local anesthesia. You will probably be sedated
with a benzo mostly because the local apparently stings for a few
seconds. The anesthetist miscalculated my dose and I slept through the
whole thing which was disappointing. I hope his ears are still ringing
from the verbal blast I gave him!!
The most painful part is not the surgery, that's a piece of cake, but
the tests done to confirm you have CTS which involves testing the
nerve's electrical conductivity by zapping it repeatedly with what
feels like a million volts!
I suspect CTS is heredity. My mother has had surgery on both wrists
(her side of the gene pool is very suspect in more ways than one,
IMO/E) <VBG>
