I resisted going generic for a looong time, but as my recovery went further
along, so did my willingness to let go of certain anxieties surrounding
medications.
My pharmacy was Osco, and they had one generic brand - and I never noticed a
difference. Osco was bought by CVS who used a 'round' pill, and that didn't
make any difference for me at all either.
I'm aware that generics aren't created equal, and that they have a lot of room
for different formulations. My feeling is that these formulation differences are
more about s/fx than the ability to do the job intended, since it's mostly the
fillers that are different. The basics are the same.
That's just my opinion on it. I won't change to generic Celexa tho - as it's
the s/fx that may be possible that I don't have now that I may get from an SSRI.
I think a benzo is a benzo since any s/fx are pretty rare. SSRIs tho? I draw the
line there to the chagrin of my insurance company........ < la de dah >

tell the difference!!

I take a generic alprazolam which works fine but at some point my
pharmacy gave me a different one which I felt was less effective so I
asked them to change that which they did.
There can be a difference that some say may be up to 20% between
generics or a generic and the brand name med. Moreoever not all the
coaters and fillers are the same stuff and it is possible that this
might make a difference as well. If you feel your generic alprazolam is
not as effective as it should be ask your pharmacy for another one and
see what that gets you.

I don't know about xanax but I've been using alprazolam and it works
fairly good, only a few side fx (hot flashes) takes about 30-45 mins
to start working. The best so far is Ativan which when you put under
your thong works really fast. |

I have one box of brand name Xanax and one generic. They are exactly
the same...look at the leaflet in the box or ask your pharm.
Good question tho, I only wish I had proof. |

had generic xanax. the reason i asked is because the last time i took
one, it did nothing. i only take them as needed and i haven't built
up tolerance. a friend of mine gave me one of his NON generic xanax,
and i couldn't BELIEVE the difference. it was really strange!
and i totally agree with you about generic SSRI's. i've had NOTHING
but bad luck with those. i only get "dispense as written" on those.

I never noticed a difference.
Also didn't notice a difference when Klonopin went generic.
