Default Help me please

Hi

I was diagnosed with OCD a few years ago and started Zoloft. I saw
three Doctors each of whom diagnosed the condition identically.

Zoloft worked like a charm for me but the side effects did not wear
off. Also, I was scared of the side effects so I stopped eating the
pills 6 months ago. My condition is worsening and I cannot get better
on some days. I am quite desperate. I have a loving wife who is doing
all she can to help me.

Please help me. Can you please advise some way to get over this
without medicine. I am a very good graduate student with a loving wife
and child. But I guess you people understand how bad this condition
gets. Sometimes I just feel like jumping into a river, never to come
back. The only thing which keeps me back is what will happen to my
wife.

Please help me. I know many of you in this group are knowledgeable.
Please help.

thank you.

Have you ever read up on inositol for OCD and
panic attacks. Do both a Google searches and
a Pubmed searches. The doses used are
12 to 18 grams as I recall. Please check this as
well. This is considered an experimental/megavitamin
type idea.

I am not a Doc. So if you try it, you are
on your own.

Zoloft is often prescribed for OCD. You said it worked for you but stopped
because of the side effects. Were you experiencing intolerable side effects
or worrying about this happening?

Hello, I saw your SOS! I'm new here, but old in such things as OCD,
Depression, Anxiety, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Fatigue and pain is a
"given" in all of these. What unpleasant side effects are you experiencing
on Zoloft? There are quite a few other antidepressants on the market now.
For years I took Prozac, but then at some point it began to make me feel
more anxious and hyped. Since then, I've been on Paxil and it has worked
well for me. Paxil is supposed to work well for OCD and panic attacks.

I have never been on Zoloft, but my Dad was and it brought him out of a
serious depression. My family have this illness in our genes. What some
doctors are doing now, and it is quite effective, is this: They prescribe 2
different types of antidepressants which work together beautifully. One you
take during the day (SST). Zoloft would fall into that category, as well as
Paxil and Prozac. Then, one day when I told my doctor that I was
experiencing more anxiety and trouble sleeping along with the depression, he
put me on Doxepin before bed (it's called a tricyclic) antidepressant.
Another common one of that type is Elavil. You could perhaps discuss this
with your doctor and see what he says. Really, it's more commonly done that
you realize. I'm not a nurse or a doctor, but I am a very seasoned (30
years) victim of these type disorders. I'm also an avid reader, and over
all those years I've read and read medical books and have prescriptions to
circulars. Feel I have gleaned much, but always have something else to
learn.

The Holistic followers may be able to answer your question if there is
something besides medicine to "get over it". In all honesty, I don't think
it can be done wholly and "holy" permanently without pharmeseutical drugs.
You have too much going for you. Become informed, and don't give up. You
CAN feel better; it's just the process you have to go through to have the
right combinations of medications. Don't give up; you have too much going
for you in your education and a wonderful family. You've got a lot on your
plate right now, so it's imperative you do everything you can to get the
help you need to feel up to it! Hope I helped a little. Nanny
