| | | muscle tension and neck tightness I have had anxiety for several years now. I have been on and off meds,
thinking I could handle it on my own. In the past two months I have had
several things happen that may have caused some added anxiety and a
build up of stress. I had relationship issues, my grandfather whom I
was very close to got sick and died, my friend at work died suddenly, I
was switching jobs, etc. I guess it has all caught up to me and now I
am really feeling the hard side effects rfom the stress. My neck,
throat, shoulders, top of chest are tight constantly. I had an EKG
because of the atypical chest pain, but that came back fine. My blood
pressure is fine, it tends to be around 110/70. I was told that I have
GERD and IBS that has been more than likely caused by my anxiety. I am
not naive to the typical symptoms of anxiety, but I was just curious if
anyone else had felt similar things...
- Tight Neck and Shoulders
- Feeling like you have pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve in the top
of your chest, near the collar bone and up into the throat
- Sore and Tired body
- Extreme Fatigue
- waking up in the middle of the night in a sweat.
- Stomach Upset
I just started taking Lexapro again, only 5mgs, a week ago. I am
sarting to feel the benefits, but then out of nowhere, I get these
symptoms. If anyone has experience this, I would love to know. Thanks |

| | | Re: muscle tension and neck tightness Thanks for the reply. I am going to keep on the Lexapro and see if it
gives me some relief..
I know I have more than likely run my immune system down from the
stress/anxiety and lack of sleep. ginaalbaugh@earthlink.net wrote:

*Never* stop a benzo like Klonopin cold turkey ---> your seizures. Do a
very slow taper.
It is also not recommended to wean off of Lexapro and Klonopin at the
same time as you will have *double trouble*: withdrawal symptoms from
both. One at a time is a better way to go.
Why do you want to stop all your meds so suddenly? Don't they work well
enough? Or is there another reason?
I think you should talk to your doctor (a pdoc hopefully) about this.

What do you mean by "I am an addict"? To these prescription drugs? Or to
recreational drugs? Now or in the past?
Anyway, a taper *will* work for you whether you are an *addict* of any
kind or not. That's just a physiological fact, the rest is *cognitive
distortion*.
