Hi

I started my attack well over 13 yrs ago and can remember how bad I
felt sometimes. And yes there were occassion that I had wierd thoughts
but I ended up taking my medication and go to sleep. I would feel
refresh after that.

What I do recommed is that you seek professional counseling. One never
knows that sitituation we can be in with our minds working the way the
do sometime.

Hope the best for you

Jay

Yes, they're intrusive thoughts and/or obsessions. For a while I had
thoughts that I didn't know the English language. I had to convince
myself constantly that I did.
Then came thoughts that my car was always outside its lane--that
involved constant looking of side mirrors and a lot of anxiety. Then
came thoughts that the ceiling above my bedroom would collapse on me. I
also had thoughts that I would go nuts.

I've learned that time hasn't shown any of these to be true.

BTW, my husband gets thoughts of harming others at times; so does my
sister.

*Intrusive thoughts* often are part of an anxiety disorder and they can
be quite scary. When my children were little, say, about 20 years ago, I
used to have this recurring thought that I would shoot them and then myself.
I knew very well that I would never actually *do* this (I live in
Holland so where would I get a gun in the first place?) but the idea was
totally scary. I noticed that saying *STOP* out loud or pinching myself
in the arm as soon as the thought came up was very helpful and
eventually after a few months I got rid of it completely.
Everybody with Panic Disorder knows the feeling that (s)he's about to
lose her/his mind. The very fact that you worry about this means you're
not. People who really "lost their minds" in the sense of being totally
delusional see *their* reality as completely normal while it is at odds
with how everyone else views reality.

All part of the joy of mental illness my friend. I found that antipsychotics
work well for me as they quieten your mind.

Yes, the thoughts are part of the disorder. I know feeling this way is
just horrible. I have had problems with PA's and anxiety for 15 years.
Just like life there will be good times and bad times. The most
important thing IMO is to get help. The thoughts leave my mind when
I'm feeling less anxious and in control. I have been able to function
all these years and If I can do it I know you can to. I didn't seek
help quick enough and suffered for almost one year fighting the PA's,
fear of an attack and unwanted thoughts. I wish you the best.

never.

nah, yer just about ta lose yer mind.... no worries.

fa real, i have weird, actually disturbing, violent and downright icky
and uncontrollable thoughts that take on'ah life'ah their own
occasionally. they become more and more angst-ridden tha harder i try
to stop 'em.

it's'ah horrid experience/feeling'n irrational as hell.

i've kinda found'ah way to stop tha process from ignitin'... and that's
ta DO something weird, like call'an unknown phone number and get
involved in'ah conversation with sumbody i "mistakenly" called, maybe
spray paint paper plates and nail'em to my ceiling (which actually
ended up lookin way cool when i did tha whole ceiling with cheap paper
plates sprayed in gold) or ask people for spare change... there's a
multitude'ah superb ideas i've come up with that'll divert my attention
and allow me "not ta go there."

i don't really recommend this stuff tho if ya care if people think
yer'ah nutcase... (which i don't...cuz i am) butcha could maybe think
up some'ah yer own ideas and see'f that helps.
