Default Another story of a fall

Had ice and snow last night and today. Took the little dog out for a potty
stop. Hit a patch of ice on the steps and legs flew up. The rest of me went
down. Landed full weight on the edge of the bottom step with the small of my
back (meaty part on left side.) Screamed out in pain. Mike ran out and
helped me in the house. Ice, pain pills, couch time. Am moving around a bit
with the help of a cane, very slowly though. Good thing I didn't land on my
spine 'cause I don't think I could have without breaking something with the
ddd. No blood in urine, so I don't think I damaged kidneys. Will probably
see doc in the morning. And so it goes...

(((Gary)))

You need to invest in some of those claws that strap onto your shoes. Or
make Mike walk the dog...

Anyway, I'm glad you don't think anything is broken, but a trip to the
doctor isn't a bad idea.

Darn Gary! ouch - you have me reaching for pills, ice, heat and everything
else. Please get it checked although you are probably correct about not
breaking anything if you don't feel it and can move around. Thank goodness
for kids! Get Mike to do the night duty for a bit. Hopefully you have some
icemelter for those steps!

Take care of yourself for the next few days and let us know how you are.

Oh my gosh, Gary!!! Sitting here just cringing after reading your
post!!! Major Owwieeeeeee!!!

Glad Mike was around to help you get back into the house, but shoot, you
sure didn't need that to happen!

Glad you'll have the doctor check you out tomorrow just to be safe
though!

Please, please rest and take it easy and be extra gentle with yourself
while healing.

Gary, do you have a fenced yard that the dog can just go out and do its
thing? Might be a whole lot safer!

Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way!!!

Hugs,

Donna G.

Awwwhhhh, Gary,,, I know that hurts and it is going to hurt worse before it
get better. Slips and trips and fallls will be the downfall of us all.
Please keep an eye on the urine and tell the doc when you can.

Oh Gary, didn't we tell you no more falls.

Oh ouch, sympathetic thoughts coming your way.

I hope all goes well with the healing of it and that the dr doesn't find any
breaks.

Ok gang, I think we really need to take up a collection of bubble wrap and
send it to Gary to protect him now. ;-)

OUCH!!! Take care of yourself and do go get checked out just to make
sure you didn't do any damage. Next time let Mike walk the dog. I don't
mind walking in snow, but I won't walk anywhere near ice. It's just too
dangerous.

Gary,

So sorry to hear about your fall I hope it has not damaged anything. Ice
is just so treacherous and sometimes it hides under the snow and we just
don't know it's there. Glad Mike was there for you. Hopefully the Doc
finds nothing more than bruises.

We have a fenced backyard and it was perfect for our other dogs, both of
whom we lost at the end of last year. We have since acquired a second
Papplion who is going to be much smaller than our first and can easily
scurry under the fence. She weighs in at 3.5 # much smaller than Chubbs.
We moved to our home here in Missouri six years ago and every year the
soil has receded around the foundation and the the fence. We had the
gates readjusted last Fall but if we want to keep her in we will have to
haul in soil and put it around the fence perimeter.
