Default Bone pain?

Question for you all. I've been having chest pain but I think it's bone
type pain and not heart attack or acid reflux pain. It hurts to push on my
chest, top of my breasts, ribs, etc. Actually, everything from below the
breasts to my neck hurts to touch. Also have several tender spots in my
back.

Could this be arthritis related? Have my regular 3-month appt. with the RD
next week and will surely chat with him about it. Just thought I'd get some
input from you guys before the appt.

Thanks,

Jean

Hi there,

I had similar pains, it actually was so bad that I could not take deep
breaths. The RD explained that one also has a joint in the chest that
can get inflamed and that causes pain just as any other joint would
with arthiritis. But rather make sure, tension can also cause the pain
in the places you mentioned.

Kind regards.

Willa

Yes, it could be. Google costochondritis which is a sort of
inflammation of the rib cage area.

think they are having a heart attack.

Probably arthritis related. The cartilage that connects the ribs to the
sternum can get very inflamed.

I think I've noticed on the group that there is a much higher incidence of
"costo" related pain in the fall and winter. For me its largely weather
related and cough and breathing problem related.

It can be severe. I've sort of joked with my doctors that between costo
pain and gerd pain, I'll never know if I have a heart attack. I simply
cannot go to the ER every time I have severe chest pain.

Yes,,, I have had that type of pain in a different place in my rib cage. 3
well placed small steroid shots put a stop to it.

Thanks for all the input -- it is appreciated. I did Google
chostochondritis and it sounds very much like what I'm having. Oh goodie.
Just something else to deal with. Will find out for sure next week, I
guess.

Thanks again,

Jean

It could be costochrondritis - a chronic inflammation of the cartiledge in
the rib cage. I have it pretty bad in my upper left quadrant. It feels
sometimes as though it is coming from the heart. After two overnight stays
in the hospital to 'rule out' cardiac involvement, I've learned to recognize
the pain and location, but it took a long time. My personal advice would be
to discuss this with your doctor as only a doctor can make a diagnosis. (Oh,
and by the way....half the time even a doctor has to guess or surmise a
diagnosis. The human body is a strange thing.)

My ribs hurt 24/7/365. They are fusing and limiting chest expansion when I
inhale.

It's a result of anklylosing spondylitis.

I always feel like my bones hurt with my FM...And this can be in the chest
and rib area also...
When my legs hurt..it feels like it is my bones...when my arms hurt ...well
you get the idea...
Some times it is hard for me to figure out which one is hurting OA or
FM..Guess it doesn't matter..They both hurt...
I hope you get some good answers from your doctor next week...
Cindy
