Default Costo maybe?

I have been miserable for a couple of weeks with discomfort in my rib
area. Its not acute pain but when I lean forward or sit slouched in my
chair I really feel it. The PCP isn't sure what it is except to say I
might have "strained something". When I mentioned costo he said he
wasn't all that familiar with it and I should see my RD. I do have an
appt. in January with the RD but wondering if my symptoms sound like
costo to those of you who suffer with it.

Hi Ann,

Perhaps pleuro-pericarditis? I've had that twice in the last year, very
painful. Although, I must say my pain was trying to breathe, every breath in
was an adventure until the anti-inflammatories kicked in after a few days.
Standing or sitting upright was the only comfortable position, lying down
was out of the question.

Paul

Ann, the rib cage is a prime area for Fibro. Whenever my hubby or my
massage therapist massages that area, it's unbelievable what pain is there
when pressed! Costo is also common. Have you been diagnosed yet with
Fibromyalgia? Nanny

Oops, Ann, I answered you thinking I was on my Fibro newsgroup. But, that
is an area to consider along with all the other possibilities. Nanny

I have had inflammation of the breast bone for I think four years now.
That sounds like what you're describing. It hurts all the time. Gets
worse in some positions. (putting pressure on breast bone) and
breathing in.

I'm looking for the answers on costo though. I'm starting to have a
pain in the upper breastbone area and out to my shoulders. I'm
wondering if that's costo.

But your rheumy should be the one to tell you.

Take care,

Vickie B.

Paul, I doubt if it's pleuro pericarditis because breathing doesn't hurt
and I can lie flat without pain.
Nanny, I never even thought of Fibro although I was diagnosed with that
long after my RA diagnosis. I bet that's what is going on!
Vickie, it's down the sides of my rib cage and where the ribs meet in
the middle and sore to the touch. Will see in January what my RD has to
say about it.
Thank everybody, it's great to be able to
get your feedback for my aches and pains.

Ann
