costocervical: pertaining to the ribs and the neck

costochondral: pertaining to the ribs and its cartilage

costochondritis: inflammation of costochondral joints of the chest,
which can cause pain. the pain of costochondritis can sometimes be
distinguished from other, more serious forms of chest pain by its
reproduction on palpation of the involved joints and the absense of
abnormalties on chest x-ray examinations, electrocardiograms, and blood
tests.
SYMPTOMS: Symptoms include pain and tenderness over the
joints lateral to the sternum.
TREATMENT: Use of a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent
often helps reduce the discomfort which
normally resolves spontaneously over time.

costoclavicular: pertaining to the ribs and clavicle

costocoracoid: pertaining to the ribs and coracoid process of the
scapula

costophrenic: pertaining to the ribs and diaphragm

costosternal: pertaining to the ribs and the sternum

.... Synonym: Word you use when you can't spell the other.

Thanks Chief. If costo is what I have it's nice to know it will resolve
on it's own and go away! Have narrowed it down to either Costo or
Fibro. So who needs a doctor when I can diagnose myself cheaply,
hahaha.

It could be costo or fibro Ann but only a dr would be able to tell you that.

I think you should have a chest xray done to rule out other things though.

It could be pleursy or something like that and it could be settling there in
the side ribs. So no one could tell you for sure unless you had a chest xray
to rule out other things.

The reason I am saying this, is I have costo and fibro and still can't be
sure if it is one of those or my asthma, pleurisy coming on.

One time I went in sure it was the costo stuff because it was in areas where
I could push on the area between the ribs and it hurt like a son of a gun.
Well come to find out I had pleurisy really bad. So it really is hard to
tell at times.

I'm not so sure Costo ever just "goes away on its own", nor goes away,
period. Especially in regard to Fibro. Nanny
