Well, my feeling good today just didn't happen. This AM my bp was 129/86 -
not bad! But tonight it was 96/63. I can't imagine why it keeps dropping so
low so quickly. Will surely discuss this with my doctor when I see her next
week again. Also, when I took my meds, (without the 2 bpmeds), i barely
made it to the bathroom before everything I had eaten today came rushing
back up. First time I've been that sick in a long, long time.

I called PT this morning and dismissed myself. My therapist called me back
and agreed that I did the right thing.

Darn Gwen - I don't like the sounds of this. Were both bp's taken when
lying down or standing?? Is one after your meds? Mine was high in the
morning which said to my doctor that it was not working the entire time
but.... I know they would rather treat the highs even if you are getting the
lows. It could be the fluid drop in the afternoon maybe. For this week
keep track of fluid intake and at what time as well. This might help her.

Hopefully the sickness is just a short lived thing. This is not what you
need - good thing you dismissed the pt.

Take care of yourself - I will lend you some bubblewrap. Most important -
with that low blood pressure take your time getting up from chairs etc and
hold onto things until you get your balance. With low bp you know the
dizziness can get that balance.

Kelly

Kelly, all the bp's were taken while sitting in my computer chair. I can't
take the meds until after I check bp. That determines what I take, and what
I don't.

When I get up each morning, I have nice, pretty, small legs. However,
within an hour they have started swelling. The Dr. lowered my diuretic to
10 mg instead of 40 since I was slightly dehydrated. I see her again
Tuesday week; have blood work done again this Tuesday.

I see a neurologist tomorrow; just praying they find I do have a brain and
it's functioning. My son reminded me that even elephants have brains! He
is a big tease just like his did was.

Whack your son over the head with your trunk - darn kids anyhow. My son was
giving me a bad time about my fall and my looks - I know it was because he
was afraid if he didn't give me a bad time he would laugh.

I have the trouble with the swelling as well after getting up. Much better
now that I am lower on the prednisone - in my case we are pretty sure it is
the prednisone high dose that is causing the swelling. Darn - hope they get
some answers. Keep us in touch with what is happening and please take it
easy with the lows - you don't need a fall as well as everything else.

Good luck tomorrow.

Yikes, Gwen! Do be very careful when getting up and make sure you give
your body time to adjust after standing before walking much, hopefully
this will help avoid those dizzy, light headed, unsteady feelings you
are suffering with!!! Hope your doc can get this sorted out soon!

My thoughts would be the dehydration and possibly adrenal issues. Are you on
pred.

Mine does that, it drops when i least expect it.

SJ, I am on pred, but only 10 mg a day. I see my doctor next week after she
gets results of bloodtests done tomorrow, fasting. Dr. Boiser started
making out blood work he wanted done so I'm taking them both in tomorrow.
Since I need to eat a lot tonight to make up for not eating tomorow, I think
I'll go get the pound of cleaned, boiled shrimp my sweet DIL bought for me
last night and have a feast!

Kelly

question to you about the swelling where do you have it.

I started swelling. I am pred. I am now weaned down to 10 mg and because of
being ill have not been able to get down further yet. But the other day I
got bit by something and that same day I started swelling in the hands,
right above the wrists and the top of my feet and I believe the bottom too
because they feel puffy, also slightly on the ankles. I was thinking the bug
bite but thought no because it was above the knee and that area did swell
because I am allergic to mosquito bites, so it must have been one that got
me. But I thought if it was the bug bite, it probably would have swelled my
whole leg not just parts of it. Also I dont think it would have caused the
isolated swelling like that and would have swelled the whole body, if you
know what I mean, like in my arms too, the other leg, etc.

But it is weird if it is the pred because I didn't swell like this when I
was at 20, just now.

I also have my period and thought about that.

But then I am not sure it is edema because in the feet it is a puffiness,
and I am dehydrated so it would appear then it couldn't be edema.

So was wondering what on you swelled. I do have the pred face and have it
since a few months after being at 20 mg.

My feet and hands swelled and I also got bloated in the stomache - high
almost to the breast bone area. These areas are starting to come down now.
It was not a sudden thing - came on slowly. Elevation and ice did help. It
could be the period - wait it out and see. It could be the lack of exercise
if you have been ill and not getting enough circulation too. Happens when
we are not getting the movement we need when not well.

Hugs Jo - I know you can't afford a doctor right now but really these are
questions they need to answer. This is tough. I would suggest if you can
try to get your circulation going and see what happens. If nothing else if
you can't walk very far then once an hour or so then get up and walk around
your chair increasing the amount of times you can do it each time. Maybe it
will only be every few hours and only one rotation but try. This will help
that circulation a bit and will help you determine the swelling thing as
well.

Hang in there.

Thanks Kelly,

I was just wondering what the signs of the pred one was so I could try to
figure out if I had to make a run to the drs witht this. I don't have money
at all now to do so. So I can't afford to run if it is not really important
to do so.
