Hello Richard

You have done absolutely nothing wrong and you don't need to remove the
post. Now for an answer to your questions:

I would start this process by making a list of what you are interested
in. Glucosimine/chondroitin is very brand dependent for quality. Dr.
Theo's website will give you the brands that are the best. That is
also the website that will tell you about avosoy and where you can get
it. Fish oil is also a product that is highly variable in quality and
purity. Barry Sears actually does the best work with brands and also
will give you a process (freezing the fish oil to check for purity)
that really helps you decide which brands to use.

If you were here, I'd recommend TIDhealth.com or Emersonecologics.com
as places that will carry all of the good brands. However, shippong
would be prohibitive, I think, to the UK. Costco here has one of the
best deals on glucosamine for a quality product. I don't know if you
have Costco in the UK.

To sum up, research your brands because there is some major junk out
there. Make a list of the brands you want and see what you can find.

Richard, your first post was not only appropriate but brought out some
great suggestions from people. The one place I can offer some help
would be to check to see if you can take certain supplements with your
kidney issue or with any other meds you might be taking. Email me your
current meds and what supplements you are interested in and I'll tell
you if there are any contraindications.

thanks,
m (who is also known as Melinda)

Harv,
your ignorance and rude behavior are inaapropriate. Why in the world
would you respond to this man with such hostility? Interesting that
you waited until he addressed me to jump on him, not with his first
post that saw responses by many of us, including Joe, me, Kate, etc.

The problem here is that this very polite man came her looking for info
several weeks ago. I hope he sees that you are just a very difficult
person and doesn't leave. He needs ou/r support, not your specific
brand of condescension.

You know how much your opinion matters with me.

Why in the world

I have seen a double dozen times a little conversation and the question for
non prescription products.

That is your opinion. If it stops the quest to sell goods, it is worth it
for me.

Just to second your email Melinda and again welcome you Richard. It is hard
to balance a kidney problem with both supplements or non prescription meds -
I wrote above with some other non medicinal ideas. The tens machine might
help a bit.

As M says please make sure that you are dealing with a reputable place for
the natural meds as well. I still deal with my pharmacist - a lot of the
clerks in the natural foods stores really are that - clerks and don't always
have the training that is needed to advise anyone with major medical
problems.

Welcome.

yes Harv,
and that would be why he is specifically addressing me. Let's see, in
the ten years I have been a member of this group, have you ever seen me
sell anything? You need to get a grip-
I have spent thousands of dollars giving [roducts to members of this
group, never sold a cent. You talk about honesty but honesty doesn't
include deciding you don't like the message because you don't like the
messanger which seems to always be me or Diane.

I have also received some things free. And Melinda helped my family
and I through the darkest period in our lives, and for that I am
forever grateful.
Harvey if you are still not feeling well, and are out of sorts, I
understand, but don't jump on the first person that comes along
please. Not everyone has an ulterior motive. We all do deserve respect
though.
You can not judge one person by the bad actions of others in the past.
There is nothing in Richard's post to signify he is not genuine. If it
is the fact that he has a hotmail address, that is nothing- many
people do.

Please reconsider your words. I admire the fact that you apologized
earlier in the week for jumping all over those that had a comment
which you interpreted as political.

Let your conscience be the judge, Harv. I know you are a good person
at heart.

You are a vendictive little man who is also just a plain liar. Two
years ago you insulted me to the point that i left this group because
my religious orientation wasn't something you liked although you had no
idea what my religious orientation was. now i have suddenly become a
cmo salesperson? I have never sold a bottle of CMO to anyone-read
the usenet archives. I am an acupuncturist, not a supplement
salesperson. I'll give you a thousand dollars tomorrow if you can find
one human being on this planet I have ever sold CMO to. And don't
bring up Larry-what a slam to Larry to suggest that he would be buying
CMO. He was a hip, adult man who was nobody's fool or victim.

One question I have: what tangible benefit do you bring to this group?
Where do you offer support?

I feel sad that your fear and anger seem take the place of compassion.

One other thing: I have seen so many spammers post here in the last
few weeks. Usually there is no response to these posts. Why would it
be that as soon as i appear in a post, you suddenly want to protect
everyone in the newsgroup from...Me?

I feel truly sorry for you.

Melinda

dang it, harv!<whomping you upside de head, guy--do i have your attention

needs, when i received a private email from him requesting specific
information. i don't give out e-mail addys without permission from the
owner of the e-addy. so, richard asked melinda on asa, which is perfectly
logical and perfectly fine for him to do on asa.

are you blushing with embarrassment, yet? geesh, guy. richard is not
selling anything. he's trying to help his own health issues and find the
stuff that i know melinda knows where to find.

as for melinda selling stuff--that's nothing but pure bunk! when i needed
something for my carpal tunnel post-op, melinda sent it to me and wouldn't
accept my offer to repay her for it and i'm not one to accept gifts easily,
without reciprocating. but i did and was grateful to her for it.

i'll say this just once, just cuz i'm nervy enough to do it---stop attacking
people, harv--long time members or newbies. it isn't pleasant to be on the
receiving end of one of your tirades. you are creating chaos and uproars on
our basically peaceful newsgroup. you complain about stress levels on asa,
but you have been raising stress levels with your attacks. i'm not sure
just who or what you are at war with, but asa is not the battleground for
your issues. so, just stop it!

no need to be sorry. and you don't need to remove your post, richard. your
post was/is perfectly appropriate for this newsgroup. you weren't the one
who was out of line, at all. none of what ensued had anything to do with
you or your post, richard. it really doesn't have anything to do with asa,
either. normally, this kind of thing shouldn't/wouldn't happen. i
apologize to you for putting you in this situation, in the first place,
richard. though, in all honesty, i had absolutely no idea this would
happen. i hope you get all the answers you need, from asa, richard.

Why would you send it to them if not to sell it? Send samples and then they
could buy it from you if they wanted to? That would not be selling would
it M? It is all in how you look at things. Maybe no one will notice that
I am only responding to being jumped on. Please save your sorry for you

Hi Melinda,

I don't know if you can do it or not, but try to ignore this pettiness that
is going on here. It isn't worth it to you or any of us to carry on this
battle. I would hate to lose your input here again on account of something
so silly (to me.) We need you here.

Well gee that puts a whole new slant on people doing things to help others
now doesn't it.

Maybe I should rethink all the nice things I have been sent to me. HUH, I
wonder if all those cards and stamps I got that one year was because people
were trying to sell me stamps and cards.

Or maybe that squirrel candle and squirrel tin and squirrel bird bath/feeder
and ceremic squirrels that I got sent to me were people actually trying to
sell me squirrels. If it was I will buy the squirrels, I miss them.

See how silly that sounded Harv. People do, do things out of the kindness of
their hearts you know.

Melinda and Donna H have always been way over geneorous with numerous
people here and other places so I don't get it why you had to drag them down
because of religious issues and now since Melinda came back you are on the
attack again.

Have you ever sat back Harv and took a look at the people you do attack. I
have kept my mouth shut for many years about it. But it seems some people
that do some of the same things you attack others for get by scott free. But
you sure pounced on Diane and Melinda and Rick.

Why is it certain people Harv?

This is really disappointing. Melinda has supported me and my family during
a very difficult time. After Rachel's epilepsy diagnosis, and many times
since, she has offered condolences, friendship and love. She has sent Rachel
toys, clothing, movies, books, and some sweet little pens. I very much doubt
she was trying to get me to buy anything.

We may not all have the same politics or religious beliefs, but we can all
choose to be decent to one another. I don't usually get involved in these
family squabbles, but I love Melinda and her giving heart, and it really
hurts to see her being verbally abused by someone who should know better.

Gary,
you are so right. I think the thing that is the most bothersome here
is the fact that Harv tried reporting Richard for who knows what and I
do believe that if my name hadn't been in that post header, he would
have not reponded at all. So here is a guy with severe pain who comes
here for info and support and gets reported as a spammer and gets a
rude (take a bath is more than unfriendly) response. So instead of
getting support, he gets more stress. That is simply not okay. It's
bullyish and hurtful. I think I'll just go back to checking in
occasionally. You guys know where you can reach me when you need you
CMO <g> .

Kate, feel free to pass my email address (the gmail one) along to
anyone you think might need it.

Thanks so much to all of you for the support you've offered. It was
truly wonderful popping back in with my update and getting such a great
outpouring of support and love, flowers and cards, phone calls and
prayers.

Happy Holidays to all of you

m

Over the top Harvey. I have been hurt by things you have said before and
have said things but this time it is so over the top. Damned if I am going
to have you run me off right now though - I need support and I also have
support to offer.

I feel sad for you. If you are an example of a christain as you proclaim
then the world is a sad place.

I agree with Kelly C here Melinda.

You have offered support, done so many things for all of us, been a real
asset to us here. You have had more info than most to offer to the newbies.
Etc etc, don't let him chase you off again. We need you here. We want you
here.

Kelly you are right and don't you go anywhere. We need you here as much as
you need to be here.

I was feeling the same and thought I would leave too but thought no who do i
hurt but myself if I go.

I have been tugging with not saying anything to Harv now for over two or
three years. I finally said something.

He needs to get a grip and think before he goes tearing into people and also
before he goes sending emails and telling people how they should act and
putting them down.

I just have one question. Why is it that one person is allowed to upset
a whole group, insult a new person who only asks to join us, and
absolutely defame a woman who has shown nothing but kindness and love
toward all?

There is no answer to this question, but my suggestion is to ignore this
person's comments completely. Shunning is not a bad idea when it's for
the common good.

I can excuse a lot of bad behavior due to physical or mental illness,
but there comes a time when enough is enough!

M. please rethink your decision to leave. It's not necessary or wanted.

Thank you for your input.

Harv

if that means, what i think it means, harv . . . that it doesn't matter to
you that richard is a newbie and was directed to ask melinda for the support
he needed, by a member of this support group; that you will continue to
attack old asa members and newbies, without provocation; that you will
continue to promote and cause chaos and uproar on asa, whenever you feel
like it, simply because you feel like it and for no valid reason; that you
don't really care that you are inflicting more stress on yourself and others
here; that you don't care that you are simply wrong for doing these things;
that you don't care that you are and have been totally wrong about melinda,
have been treating her vilely and have been creating baseless gossip about
her, have been deliberately trying to cause her pain (and she is not the
only one you do this to); then, you are not the man i thought you were and
could be.

and if this comment of yours means what i think it means, harv, i'm going to
lovingly suggest that you need to ask your doctor to find a mental health
care professional for you, to help you deal with your aggression and
whatever issues cause your anti-social behavior. this isn't about being too
old to change one's spots, which is an over-simplified cop-out, a useful and
self-destructive excuse, in that it allows you to not face and not to deal
with your behavior issues. no one is ever too old to seek help from a
mental health care professional. and until you do seek professional help,
you will continue to make yourself, and others, miserable and stressed out
by your aggressively anti-social behavior. i'm not saying you're crazy. i
am saying you have a real problem that can be helped.

kate

Well gee that puts a whole new slant on people doing things to help others
now doesn't it.

Maybe I should rethink all the nice things I have been sent to me. HUH, I
wonder if all those cards and stamps I got that one year was because people
were trying to sell me stamps and cards.

Or maybe that squirrel candle and squirrel tin and squirrel bird bath/feeder
and ceremic squirrels that I got sent to me were people actually trying to
sell me squirrels. If it was I will buy the squirrels, I miss them.

See how silly that sounded Harv. People do, do things out of the kindness of

no, melinda. you shouldn't have to continually put up with harv's vile
misbehavior towards you. you have a useful tool at your command. set your
"block sender" to eliminate harv's garbage from your asa screen. when he's
out of line, let the rest of us, who are able to, confront harv about being
out of line, for you. this is all of our support group, so allow us to
support you in this way. we want you here and we need you here, melinda.
i'm certain others agree. and sj and kelly e., i'm sooooo glad you guys had
the courage to stay with us, too. what a loss for all of us, if you guys
had left us!

If he is a newbie,,, how many newbies do you see that wonder if they should
withdraw their post???? That threw my thinking for a loop. Why should he
have to do that?
What did he say that should be withdrawn??? I have missed something.

Well said and the way it is. Anger makes many people say things they wish
they had not. It makes people call other people names or make implications
that only make things worse or cause someone else to get even more angry.
I have not spoke from anger nor called anyone anything.
