| | | Marines in Iraq I know you all say a silent prayer every so often for our American
troops. But sometimes it is easier to remember and more personal if
you have a name of someone in particular.
One of 'my boys', Vince, a good friend of Michael's and Steven's, is
hope on leave. He just completed training in the Mojave desert and
will deploy to Iraq when his leave is over.
This is a boy my boys have gone to school with, played baseball and
soccer and football with since they were small. He has slept on my
sofa's or floors more times than I can think, and has been here for
breakfast tons of times. (Apparently no one else actually cooks
breakfast anymore)
He's nineteen, tough and strong. But also sweet and considerate.
Please keep Vince in your prayers.

He is the American boy who becomes a man that understands what America is
worth and it is worth fighting for. This understanding is so much more
than comes from our schools,,, our system of teaching the young to become
less than they can become. Yes,,, he is prayed for. Thanks for the
speaking of his name and what he believes and what he has become.

Whew! I think I'd worry even more with such a job "description", imagining
all sorts of things and fearing my imagination wasn't as bad as the reality.
The stepson of someone we know *chose* to go to Afghanistan on assignment to
the Army, despite being in the Navy, because of some specialized work he
wanted to do. They found the local school had *nothing* in the way of
supplies, so we were collecting stuff at church and shipping it over for him
to give to the kids & teachers. Unfortunately, a new CO came in and made
them stop. But it still says alot to me about how many solidiers would like
to really help the people if/when that is possible. This must be so hard for
our young adults over there.

My husband had one of those 'don't ask about that' jobs for twenty
years. And was probably in one of the safest jobs that existed. May
the ones you love stay safe as well.
