| | | Never a dull moment!
So, I had an appointment this morning with my pcp and had called for a
cab to pick me up at 10:00 a.m. (have I mentioned just how much I
really hate not being able to drive since the stroke!!! Yeah, yeah,
whaaaa, whaaaa, whaaaa)
Anyways, I went downstairs and saw that the cab was there, so started
outside to get the cab. Get just too the cab, when about 10-12
policeman came running through our parking lot, up behind the cab, all
with their guns drawn and pointing, and they're yelling get down!, get
down!, to the cab driver and me. Holy smokes, I dove into that cab, and
told the driver to just get out of there, cause I didn't want to be
around if bullets were going to start flying. In the meantime, more
policeman are arriving with guns drawn and pointed and one policemant
with a tracking dog! Yikes!!!
The roads all around our building are all blocked off.
So, we get just down the road maybe a couple of yards, when 5-6 police
cars fly by us and surround another cab who is just in front of us.
They all hop out of their cars, with guns drawn and are all pointing
their weapons at the cab. They approach the cab, open the back door,
and literally just yank this young guy out. Double YIkes!!! I'm a
little freaked out by now.
Turns out, that 4 men had robbed the bank that is just up the block from
our apartment building and had run and taken cover in our parking lot.
They caught one of the robbers in the trash dumpster (in our parkingn
lot) trying to hide his gun, another of the men down by the pond that is
behind our building, the one fellow who had gone into our building and
asked the receptionist to call the cab for him, and haven't heard yet
where they caught the 4th guy, but they did manage to catch them all.
Still haven't found the money though. Anyone want to go on a treasure
hunt??? lol
Whew, what a start to the day. No wonder my Pulse was racing by the
time I got to the PCP's office!
They (the cab dispatchers) ended up calling my cab driver and told her
to drop me at my location and then head straight for the police
department as they (the police) wanted to talk to her and have her give
a statement. Apparently just before I came out this morning, 3 of the
bank robbers had hopped into her cab while she was waiting for me, and
when she asked them if they were the ones going to the medical center
they said yes. She asked for their cards (we get cards that show you
are disabled and allow you to take the cabs anywhere in the city for
$3.00 each way) the men told my cab driver they forgot their cards and
she told them then she wouldn't be able to take them. They actually
said OK and got out of the cab, that is when the one went into our
building and asked the receptionist to call him a cab. Not incredibly
bright these fellas!!! I don't know how old they were, but the one they
yanked out of the cab, looked like he wasn't more than about 16-17 years
old. Man, oh, man.
I couldn't believe that they had a weapon with them and didn't just tell
the cab driver to drive off. Weird.
They (the robbers) also left a trail of clothes from the bank leading to
our building. Unbelievable and not incredibly bright at all!!!
Anyways, not the way you want to start your day with 10-12 policemen
pointing their guns and yelling for you to get down, get down.
Told my pcp if he thought I was a bit anxious about life last week,
shoot, that was like a walk in the park! ROFL!!!
Please, Lord, I could really really use a little boredom in my life
right about now!!!
LOLOLOL........anyone got some wine or even better, a margarita or two
to pass along please!!!

were able to get the cab driver to move on down the street and get away from
the guns. I agree that not being able to drive is for the birds!

| | | Re: Never a dull moment! Oh my Donna, you do like to live dangerously!!!
My excitement for the day is that a bear has been spotted in the
neighbourhood. Someone just called to say that a 1 year old bear has
been roaming around for the majority of the afternoon, and was seen
looking in the window of the house across from me. I am close to the
Nicola River, and I guess they travel along the river to feed.
Now, I heard a bang outside earlier, and I notice my garbage can has
been overturned and is lyng on the lawn, but I am not going out to fix
it. (It was garbage day today, so it is empty).
Now I would say my bear rates about a 2.5 or 3 on the frightening
scale as opposed to Donna's 10.

| | | Re: Never a dull moment! OK, I bought a bottle of merlot and a bottle of blackberry brandy today -
would either of those help you out? Sorry, no margaritas.
Meanwhile, i really do think you are due for some boredom. You've been good
enough at providing your own excitement when thngs get too dull, you
certainly don't need foolish, young bank robbers adding thrills to your day.
Oh, and my DH who has worked a variety of jobs in prisons in the past, tells
me that most criminals ARE stupid - as he says, they wouldn't be doing this
stuff if they had sense! There are exceptions, of course, but most of them
have never developed any common sense.
Now, then, what were your pulse and BP at the doctor's? I'll wager they were
higher than mine were when I went in this morning!

Glad you are okay but bet your blood pressure was up! Now just think - you
would have missed all that excitement if you had been driving. Just hang in
there - you will be driving again. I know how hard that is though - that 10

Hope today goes a bit quieter. I really enjoyed your post.

I am glad you weren't hurt during this going on.
You said about driving. But what if you would have, and with them running
around your complex, what if they would have gotten in your car and forced
you to drive them somewhere. That would have been worse. So maybe there was
a reason that you couldn't drive yet, who knows.
This guys sure sound like they could be in the Darwin awards though. ;-)
We just had something like that happen here about stupid criminals. They
robbed this place, I forget which store it was, then two days went back to
the same place. Dah, so now they are in jail. ;-)

Well, according to the paper, these fellas were all only 19 & 21 years
old. Very young. I figured that much, as the one guy they yanked out
of the cab didn't even look like he was THAT old. Kind of sad, really,
as they are so young and still had their whole life ahead of them, now
they won't have much of a life at all. Very sad.

Hey, Rose, I dunno, I don't think I would be wanting to run into no bear
either!!! I think that would rate up there on the fear scale almost as
much as my scary scenario did. Yikes, I would be terrified to go out
and see a big ole bear hanging around. They aren't something to mess

Then I read on and see a BEAR in Rose's neighborhood. I don't know
which would scare me more, bank robbers or a bear in my yard. At least
the occasional coyote around here is afraid of me and runs away.

I never actually saw the bear, so was lucky. I am not sure what
happened to it. Last I hear it was one street over from me. There is a
shoot to kill order on the bear as it is too much trouble for them to
relocate it. I guess they are hungry at this time of the year so are
not afraid.

Found out today that the robbers did in fact have a get away car. They
had parked it at the building next door. Unfortunately for them, after
they robbed the bank and ran to their car, the car wouldn't start! It
was then all down hill for them after that as they made one stupd
mistake after another! LOL........lesson being: if you're going to
rob a bank, better make sure your car is in good running condition!!!
Their ages ranged from 19-21. So, so young to throw away their entire
life. Really quite sad when you think about it.
The police did end up finding the money, but have yet to find what they
did with the gun. This concerns me a great deal as I would hate for a
young child to find it and get hurt playing around with it.
Please pray that the police can locate the gun and get it off the
streets before someone gets hurt or before it can be used again for some
other hideous reason!!!!

What is wrong with these kids these days? There were a couple who robbed

said they were bored.

Carole,
There is a big article in tonights paper here about the bank robbers.
Apparantly this is NOT there first job. I'm actually surprised to hear
this as they made so many incredibly dumb mistakes, that I was sure it
had to be their first time. They are actually suspected in several
bank robberies in towns/cities as far away as 1-2 hours drive. They
apparently were robbing banks to get money to "party"!
Absolutely unbelieveable!!! Here they are 18-21 years old and they
threw their whole lives away because they wanted money to party?!!!
Man oh man, that is just SAD!!!
Apparently the 18 year old was a star football player on his highschool
team. Just so sad to throw away so much young talent and lives.

the news telling everyone what "goood boys they are". When I was a

really good kids, but mommy and daddy bailed them out of whatever they did.
So yea, I can readily believe that these kids were robbing to party
because that's probably what they think life is all about.
