| | | OTP - I'm changing my website I know some of you are following my weight loss progress on my website.
I've decided to finally do something with my photography (since everyone
has convinced me that I should).
SO, this afternoon, I will be moving my Healthy Weight website to my
personal website. It will be now be located at http://carmay.com/carolemay
The site that I have now, carolemay.com, for Healthy Weight will become
my Photography by Carole May website.
So change your links )

OK Well, I'm working on a new website now for my photography, so
carolemay.com will become that. There are a few pages up for now, and
I'm working on the galleries and then will add an online shop for anyone
who likes my photos and wants a copy (I hope, LOL ))

| | | Re: OTP - I'm changing my website I had read somewhere that if you think of a new life and habits, rather than
that dreaded word diet (which implies temporary - doesn't work), it
sometimes helps. I guess it's like making a spending plan, instead of a
budget. They both allow you to decide what you *are* going to do, rather
than what you *can't* do. We are all so proud of you, Carole, you are a
true inspiration.

Thanks, Navy. I knew when I started this that it had to be a complete
lifestyle change. Not only did I have to change what I ate, and how I
ate, I also had to start moving my butt and not just sitting on the
couch. As I lost weight, I got more energy. And I was lucky to get into
hte program at the local university for adults with diabetes, as I get
to workout 3X a week with a student personal trainer, which is something
that I never could have afforded to do. He has taught me so much that
I'll be able to continue once the school year ends and he graduates.

| | | Re: OTP - I'm changing my website It sure is hard to make that first move, though. If I don't do my exercises
first thing in the morning, before I get out of bed (no way I can do them on
the floor), they don't get done. But I had found if I just start, they seem
to sail along on their own (well, I do have to make some effort LOL, but
they do go easier). I'm lucky in that I was able to lose over 20 pounds
after I retired (no candy/cookie machines at home!) So far, I've managed to
keep it off. Mom and I weigh every day so we can catch any sneaking pounds
before they get a headstart. I would love to have a personal trainer, but
the problem is, with the neuromas in my feet right now, anything involving
standing or walking I don't do. I go back to see him in a couple of weeks
or so. I found I have to wear some kind of shoe most of the time. He
approved my SAS sandals. At $100 a pair, I hate wearing them out just at
home.

I think the key is to start out slow. You are not going to walk a mile
the first time out. So just do a short walk and then add to it each day
or every other day. When I first started on the treadmill I could only
do 5 minutes.
I do my ab exercises in bed as I can't get on the floor...if I do, I
can't get up without help or pulling myself up by holding on to a piece
of furniture. I have to weigh myself every day since I have CHF.
I've never worn SAS sandals, but I was just on eBay and there are quite
a few pair on there. Check out online places as they often have
overstocks and are much cheaper.

| | | Re: OTP - I'm changing my website I can't walk for very much at all, puts too much pressure on the bottom of
the feet. I used to love to walk - would always walk if there was a choice.
I do love my SAS sandals and the podiatrist approved of them. I do have a
stationary bike that I need to get started back on. If only the oddball
events would stop messing up my schedule! We heard last evening that our
senior pastor just got elected as bishop of the South Carolina area. So,
that probably means search for a new pastor either for that positiion or, if
the junior pastor moves up, for that position. He was kind enough to email
everybody in the church with email, that our pastor had gotten the post, so
we wouldn't see it in the paper this morning without some preparation.
Well, must dash - off to OT for my hands. My therapist has helped a lot,
even if it is only providing a list of "things not to do with arthritic
hands!" LOL
