Isn't is terrible how we forget we are not supposed to do something
until the second the pain hits and then we say "Oh No....".

Most definitely. In fact, people with arthritis should not assume
they can do things they once did without thinking about it. Funny
about that, isn't it? We all seem to think we are still 25 and in
perfect health.

Take care of yourself, Dee Tee.

Of course, you knew better before the Owie! But we all get too smart at
times. Hope the pain stops very quickly.

well, I'd lecture you, but I all too recently did many similarly un-thinking
things while getting over that damned biopsy. In fact, I recently flared it
back up again a bit by defrosting and reorganizing the chest freezer for
winter. So, my advice to you is no freezer-diving until the hernia is
repaired! Oh, and "let" Bob do the housework and furniture moving for now!

I'd offer our strong healthy teenage boys to help, but they are far more

In my humble opinion there is never a right time for freezer diving and
reorganizing the chest freezer. ugh - I can feel the ribs flare now. That
is how my grama broke her ribs the first time - reaching over the freezer to
take out some leftover chinese food (which in retrospect having eaten it
should have been leftover in the garbage but she was of the "era" that saved
everything!).

Definitely "let" Bob move the furniture. Says the lady who keeps moving
stuff on her own - Pat moves things way too slowly. he has not enough time
in a day for me.

If there is the slightest chance of osteoporosis, don't do it! I
cracked a lower rib while reaching to get something out of the washer
once. Then last summer I was reaching for something that had shifted
in the trunk. I felt the sharp crack, and knew immediately what had
happened. Actually that was about the 26 of Aug, and I still have pain
in that rib. The lower ribs are largely made out of cartilege so they
are easy to snap. I have had fractured ribs several times now so
consider myself a bit of an authority on rib snapping. LOL

Boy, do I agree with that! We're stuck right now with an ancient chest
freezer though as our garage and breezeway are not grounded and it's too hard
to get one into the basement. Why they didn't ground those areas when they
grounded the rest of the house's electricity, I just don't know. I thought
that inflammed abdominal muscle from the biopsy was recovered enough to do
it, but I really did pay afterwards and it's not all the way back again yet.

But, the next night I used up some veggies that had drifted to the bottom.
And now I can actually find stuff, at least until Mike takes to throwing
stuff in on top again. And I got to introduce my PCP to the term
freezer-diving.

Is it like me with Mike? He always says, "just tell me when it needs to be
done", but catching him at home AND with the time to do it just isn't that
easy. I tell him and he's to tired and forgets, etc. so I often do it
anyway, or I begin to feel like a nag.

It is exactly like you with Mike. I don't mean to nag but sometimes it is
important to me or makes the difference between being able to function or
not. Then when I do it on my own he is upset that I didn't wait or mad
because he feels he has been slighted. That would be about right.

Love him though but wish he could just get my cupboard up in the new garage
so I could sort my material. I have 2 table runners to do before christmas
that someone actually ordered and I can't find my co-ordinating print that I
just know is somewhere here! Or in a box still upstairs which means it
migiht as well be in Alaska.

Oh, those men of ours. I remember when my husband would say the same thing.
Remind him when he gets home. Ha ha ha ha. There was always something else
that had come up. But he slid out of it so charmingly.....

oh yeah....... it took me two weeks of "reminding" to get him to sweep the
kitchen when my right arm & thumb were in a cast! I was trying not to be a
nag, but there came a point........

Only two weeks? When I had to go away, my husband would eat at home until
he ran out of dishes, and then he would go over to his folks' house! Of
course, that was back when he was barely 30 years old. LOL

In defense of guys everywhere.

When Vicki was a baby I took her to visit the grandparents for two weeks,
leaving Charlie home with the dog and cat.

The apartment was spotless when we got back. He even vacuumed his way to
the front door as he left to pick us up at the airport so there wouldn't be
footprints on the carpet.

There a lots of guys out there that can feed, dress, and clean up after
themselves. My Dad was one, I married one, and helped raise a few more.

Advice to girls looking to marry such a guy, it helps if his mother worked
outside the home when he was growing up.

well, that was sweeping AND I was right here "reminding" him! LOL He does
wash dishes - eventually. May put even easily washed onees through 3 or 4
hot, soapy water soaks first though. And just refuses to understand about
the need for usalbe sinks when fixing many food items. We got through dish
soap might fast this way, too! LOL love the heck out of him though.
