OK, gang, time to finally update you all on my cruise/trip to the
bahamas.
Have been back now just over a week and finally recuperated from all the
hard partying! LOL....just kidding. * Although we did have a lot of
fun together and were of course up most every night talking until the
wee hours of the morning and then usually back up by 9:00 or so to start
the next day.
Might I just say, we had an absolutely FABULOUS time!!!
This trip was truly a most memorable one as well as a once in a life
time event for several of us.
I'm telling you, if you have never been on a cruise before, it is an
experience like none other, and one that you don't want to miss. Just
boarding the ship is an experience like none other and so amazing to
behold. * The staff is incredibly attentive and truly bend over
backwards to do anything they can for you. * Not to mention the
cultural experience of just talking with the staff as they come from so
many different corners of our earth. * There were staff there from
Norway, Cuba, China, India, Philippines, France, etc.
Some nights we just got excited to see what shape our room attendant had
molded the towels into and left on our beds. It might be a dog with two
pennies for the eyes, a swan, an elephant, etc.
Having the whole family ( all 26 of us ) together on this trip was truly
a blessing and a whole lot of fun!!!
We didn't have very good weather (actually we had horrible weather) for
most of the trip, so sunning out by the pool was not in the game plan,
but we had an absolute ball going to some of the shows, hitting many of
the lounges, dancing, singing, eating, drinking, etc. We also spent
some time in the on board casino and shops. What a trip it is to watch
people in the casinos --- most entertaining for sure.
The dinners were quite the event when you have to seat and take orders
for 26 people all from the same group. I have to say, the wait staff was
most incredible and most wonderful, not to mention quite comical and
endearing at times. * On the formal night, we had a family portrait
taken just before dinner. It turned out very nice!!! * Also on the
formal night, the boys/men had a dozen roses delivered to the table for
my parents, and then a second vase of individually wrapped roses arrived
and the boys passed out a single rose to all of the women/girls in our
group! Even my 1 year old niece got a rose. * Talk about touching!!!
* A group of 3 men then came over and played several songs and
serenaded all of us. Of course, half of us ended up in tears and you
could almost see the mens chests swell knowing how well they had done!
Later in the evening on the second night, all of us kids went together
and had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries delivered to my
parents room as a small way of saying thank you for their most generous
gift of the cruise for all of us!!!
Since most of our rooms ( all but two ) were on the same deck, when we
would be at our rooms, we could often be found lining the hallway
chatting with one another and bouncing from room to room. I think the
other people in our hall started to feel like they were part of the
family as well and would often stop and talk with us! Too funny, but
again so much fun!!!
The kids were amazing and had just as much fun as the adults. They all
seemed to pair up with one another and played well together and enjoyed
many of the programs that were offered just for them. They all got along
very very well together and we saw no fights at all amongst them. They
really made us all so proud of them!
I of course was blessed beyond words by my whole family, but most
especially by my brothers and my oldest nephews as they pushed me all
over the ship in the wheel chair we had rented and carried all of my
bags everywhere we went. * It actually brought tears to my eyes on a
number of occasions to realize just how lucky I am to have such amazing
brothers and family!!!
I was also blessed to stay fairly healthy during the trip and am so
thankful for that. All of your prayers were truly felt --- and most
appreciated!!!
As I said earlier, this was truly a once in a life time experience and
an experience that I can't even begin to do describe and do justice to
it!!!
Thanks again to all of you for your love, support, prayers,
encouragement, and help for this trip.
Hugs and blessings to you all!

chatting with one another and bouncing from room to room. I think the
other people in our hall started to feel like they were part of the
family as well and would often stop and talk with us!
It actually brought tears to my eyes on a
number of occasions to realize just how lucky I am to have such amazing
brothers and family!!!

| | | Re: OTP: The Trip ah, Donna, it does my heart good to hear you had such a wonderful time on
your cruise! Just having the time to spend together as a family, doing fun
things, is a wonderful gift. That your parents chose to do this as a family
gift says a lot about the sort of people they are and therefore the way they
raised you all. It sounds like they all are as special as you are.
