From Greek isle home to La Jolla - lucky dog

Cellist Felix Fan wasn't pet shopping when he visited Greece with his wife,
Amany. But while they there for a wedding, a stray dog set up camp in the
courtyard of their rented home on the island of Santorini.

Hobbling on three legs due to a badly healed broken leg, she lavished licks
and kisses on them whenever they left or returned to the house. Locals told
them the dog, one of many street strays, had appeared a couple of months
earlier.

A week later, when it was time to leave, the Fans found it hard to part with
the dog who had adopted them. Not only did she have a great personality,
Felix said, but she was extremely well-behaved.

So they boarded her at a local vet, paid for shots, spaying and the repair
of her leg, then bought a plane ticket for her flight home.

Stavrosa arrived the other day at LAX, and the couple drove up to bring her
back to her new home in La Jolla. But she wasn't the only dog that came to a
better life in America that day.

Felix says another lucky stray from Santorini was retrieved by an Los
Angeles couple who drove away in a black Bentley.
