| | | Re: Kiki & Leslie Thanks for asking! I just hit my four month mark on Sunday. My surgeon
said it would take me 4-6 months for a full recovery, so I'm right on track.
I still have a limp and the leg is still weak, but I can bend and crawl and
climb steps and put on my shoes and it doesn't hurt! Such a blessing! And,
two weeks ago, I drove to Arizona from Missouri and surprised my elderly
parents with a visit! I hadn't been back to AZ since I moved to MO 19 years
ago- altho they had been here to visit me quite a few times. The drive was
exhausting, but the look on their faces??? Waaayyyy beyond priceless!
And..... I bought a 'new-to-me' full sized 4x4 truck yesterday! I was so
tired of the puny truck after driving it for a year (developed an oil leak
in AZ and lost 2 quarts of oil on the 10 mile drive to the dealership!) and
it had a bunch of mechanical problems that were covered under warranty-
thank goodness- but the warranty was about to run out and I was concerned it
would nickel and dime me to death. So, if anybody sees a big silver Chevy
truck in a handicapped spot just know it's me and I'm thrilled to be back in
a big bad truck again! VBG

From my e-mail inbox Tuesday morning:
Hey Joe,
Tell everyone I have not forget about anyone, my second surgery is September
26, I'm a nervous wreck once more, but having so much pain, I have to do it,
The one I had done in June is fantastic, no pain, and I can't believe it, I
hope the surgery goes well.
I'm sorry that yours was a bad experience, how are you feeling now?
A big hug to the support group, and hoping everyone is doing fine.
KIKI.

Thanks, Joe, so much for sharing that update with us!!! Really
appreciate it!
Now, how are YOU coming along? I bet a whole lot better now that you
are in your own home and can deal with things better!
Did you ever hear anything back from the facility after sending the
letter you wrote?
Hugs and healing prayers to you, my friend!!!

I've learned over the years that sometimes ASA folks just can't post in the
group but are willing to share e-mail updates. It really helps.

The swelling in the legs and feet is down and I can now wear shoes. <g>
A little discomfort in the area of the incision. Off-and-on pain in the
groin.
Walking with a cane indoors but still using the walker outside until I build
a little more confidence.

I'm sure that because of privacy issues she couldn't write exactly what
happened. I know if I were in her position, anyone who forgot a patient for
2-1/2 hours, then called them "stubborn" would be fired on the spot.

You have to admit the level of nice pleasant BS in their letter is a huge
improvement over what you might have received a few years ago.
All nice and non-admissive to keep the attorneys happy while making the
patient feel responded to.
(I'm serious, the letter really is well done.)
