First of all, thanks for the ping. It is nice to be pinged sometimes.
Sister #1, Iris, is doing very well. She saw surgeon #2 for a
follow-up visti yesterday, and he was very pleased. He told her she
was his best pt ever, and that hers was the most extensive surgery he
has ever done. She has gone to work at the local middle school (Grades
7&8) doing their lunch program. Even though she is only there about
2.5 hours it is a very busy time. It is early given what her recent
history has been, but she has always been a go-getter. The last year
and a half was a real torture. Other than the OA, she has never had
too many health issues.
Brother-in-law (Harold- husband of Sylvia) has not yet heard the
results of the biopsy. He is doing much better mentally regarding his
health. I believe that the thinking is that it is an ectopic goiter,
and that it will be non-cancerous. Who knows? We will be optimistic.
This has been a real roller-coaster ride. It has been especially
difficult because his older brother was dx'ed with liver cancer, and
then that diagnosis was changed to lymphoma (treatable)- but he
refused treatment. He told his family if he could not be 100% he
didnot want to live at all. Harold was upset because here he was
facing a diagnosis that could potentially have been as bad, and he
wanted to fight with all he had. At any rate, his elder brother passed
away on Sunday. His funeral was today.
Sylvia went to see her pulmonologist and to have another lung CT, and
the results were pretty encouraging as far as the lungs. The pulmonary
doc believes her issues are now a result of the CHF.
It is pretty bad when I am the healthiest in the family. It used to be
that I was the one that needed help. That is no longer the case.
