Default Prayers Please!

Hi Gang,

Hope you're all having a wonderful day and as pain free of a day as
possible!

I need a few prayers please. I am having a ruptured ear drum repaired
on friday as well as a set of titanium ear tubes placed, so this will
need to be done under general anesthetic, which I'm not real thrilled
about. Saw the ENT about 8-9 days ago and he wanted to get these
procedures done before I developed any more infections.

Well, too late. Juat got home from my pcp's office and my right ear is
infected and bulging AGAIN!!! I can't believe it's infected again, it
took 21 days and 3 different antibiotics to get the last infections
under control. Ugggggh!

My pcp, bless his heart, called the ENT while I was there in the office
and they decided to put me on one oral antibiotic and one
antibiotic/steroid ear drop combination. ENT said he will still do the
surgery on friday, even with the infection, as this is what is needed to
help me get on top of these constantly developing.

In one way I am happy that he is still going to do the surgery, in
another way, it just raises the stakes a bit and makes me a bit more
nervous about it all.

In the big scheme of things, I know this is just another little blip in
the road, but I am tired of all of this and I really really just need a
break from the constant "stuff".

So thank you dear friends for any prayers you are willing to offer for
this to all go smoothly and without a hitch on friday!

Hugs,

Donna G.

I know that you need a break from all of this and I'm putting you on my
prayer list that this will be the end of the infections and surgeries,
etc. etc. Will be waiting impatiently to hear that you did very well
with this one.

Getting tubes put in is no big deal. I had them put in back in the last
century (40+ years ago). The doctor just put anesthetic drops in my ears
and told me not to move, then I heard a loud crack and he did the other
ear. They did put my sons Alex IV & Frank to sleep when they had tubes
put in their ears though, but they were only 7 & 5 yo.

Sending Good Thoughts,

Hi Donna,
I think it is about time that you had some good news and health too. You
need to have these infections cleared up before you can go on with rituxan
so..... Thoughts will be coming to you! I will dig out a fresh candle
tonight (mine are starting to burn low!)

On a good note I talked to the rituxan pharmacist today (whose name is Kelly
too). She said that the people who have the infusion reactions seem to have
the best results from the rituxan. Well we know that must be you and I -
right. So obviously we are going to have this darn stuff work for longer
than 6 months! Please tell me you are still hanging in? She said some of
the patients she has seen have lasted 12 months (although she also admitted
she hasn't seen the repeats yet in Canada on RA as it hasn't been out very
long here. The one patient has just come up for redo and the other also
has hodgkins as well as RA and he is repeating at 12 months. Good results.
I would take that.

So let's hope these titanium ear tubes work. And look at the general
anasthetic as being a good sleep (I would take that right now!) Ask them to
give you some pain killer to relieve your back when you are coming out of
it. And know that prayers and thoughts are coming your way.

Ah, Donna, this is just getting nuts! I'm glad they're oging on with the
tubes so that infection can get well cleared out of there. Starting prayers
now for successful surgery on Friday.

donna, you've had too many blips, that's for sure. you'll be in my
prayers friday and always. i'm sorry you have to go through this.
sometimes it feels like we're at war with our bodies, i know. i hope
the tubes do the trick and the surgery is successful and the general
anesthetic is not too bad and you come back to us feeling much
better.

hugs,

Certainly prayers for you on Friday! It sounds like the surgery is very
vital for your health right now, especially if they want to do it in spite
of the current infection. Let us know how it all goes. Nanny

ROFL!!! Oh, shoot, Gary, you take all the fun out of everything!
lololol

Thanks, everyone for all of your prayers and support.

I do know that this procedure really isn't that big of a deal, but if
you remember, last sept when the did general anesthetic without telling
me before hand, I ended up in the hospital for a week with a bad asthma
flare that landed me in the ICU for 3 days or so. It was pretty bad.
If we don't do a stress load of pred before and after, my lungs don't
handle general anesthetic real well. Not to mention the million pokes
it usually take them to just get the IV started. That coupled with my
fears of the general anesthetic and me having another storke are leaving
me a bit freaked out about it all.

Oh well, I hope it all goes smoothly. My lung doctor just called and
he wants to talk to the anesthesiologist before the surgery. He was
going to hang up from talking to me and call them to let them know what
they need to do to keep my lungs from flaring. He also told me what he
wanted me to do once I get home and then for the next several days.
So, hopefully that will help.

Surgery is at 10:00 a.m. , so hopefully I will be home and in my own bed
resting by about 1:00-2:00 p.m. tomorrow. Don't know if I'll be online
tomorrow or even the next day. A lot will depend on how I feel, as
often times the general anesthetic leaves me a bit nauseous and goofy
for a day or two. Will post when I'm able.

Thanks again everyone for all of your support and prayers, they do mean
so much to me.

Hugs,

Donna G.

Not sure of time differences and such -

Just praying Donna is doing well, that the surgical and nursing staff is
well rested, well nourished and well focused. May there be no
complications - only good outcomes.
