that's why its the drug we love to hate, or hate to love, or something like
that! One person from ASA who is otherwise occupied at the moment was on
very high doses of pred before an eye procedure once upon a time. She was up
all night searching online for the perfect name for thenew kitten they were
getting. We had all these posts about names she was considering. It was
hysterical!

Yes, insomnia is common with predisone. So is massive weight gain, the
kind people with arthritis REALLY do not need! Prednisone, at least at
higher doses, can also cause a type of diabetes (reversible) but
requiring insulin while it's happening. In some people it can even cause
the symptoms of a manic episode, and this is much more common in people
who have bipolar disorder but is not limited to that group. Some people
might even group insomnia in with this symptom package. Long term, there
are other unpleasant symptoms as well, such as bone loss leading to
osteopenia/osteoporosis.

You may need to consult your doctor about the sleep problems, as these
can have other unpleasant issues such as loss of focus while driving...
(even though you /feel/ fine).

That said, if it's all you've got, well then your best bet is to find
out the minimum dose you need, find ways to manage the side effects, and
stick with it until something better comes along.

Regards,

Ari
