I had a knee replacement in 2000. Actually, some of the PT exercises have
you stretching and bending your new knee joint right after surgery. I went
through that stage of being too cautious, afraid that I would ruin the knee
joint, but you get used to it after awhile. The only thing I still don't do is put
my body weight on the knee of my TKR (like kneeling). I think the major
concern is NOT to fall on those new knee joints. I had a friend who took a
nasty fall, landing right on his TKR, it snapped, he had to have it re-done,
then got a very serious infection in that area as a result. But, that is unusual
I would think; I've never heard of anyone else who had that experience.
