Cindy, Here and accounted for in OK...
My body has surely had the ouches this past couple of weeks, but I am sure
this too will pass...
My husband is in the hospital recovering from what is his 20 Plus hernia
repair surgery...He has had over the past 12 years...Caused first by an
accident at work Twice...and then compounded by the fact that his Non
Allergies and Asthma makes him cough...He has had Mesh in, Mesh Out...Mesh
his body rejected, Multiple infections in the abdomen...Mesh in the colon
and bowel...So parts of that removed...Short Long history...
Yesterday...He had two Large Lateral hernias in the upper abdomen where the
mesh was attached...The Old "Pig Skin" Mesh was removed from this area and a
new and Improved mesh was put in...Praying that it doesn't get rejected...As
of last night, he was doing well...Getting ready to shower and back to the
hospital this am...
Hopefully for good news.

Angela here. Doing ok. I seem to be having one step forward and two
steps back with the recovery from the elbow surgery. All due to my
clumsiness.

Everyone here is in my prayers each day. I hope all are doing as well
as we possibly can.

Pain-free wishes for all
Angela

Adelle here.

Distracted by the usual kid stuff, unusual car stuff, even more unusual
drama with sister, and sucky news about my Mom (last chance chemo didn't
work, nor did experimental protocol).

Lurking often and saying prayers where appropriate. Just a little
overwhelmed. Sending love and hugs to all.

LongTimeLurker Beth here.

Freezing my dupa off in Western NY state (realfeel +9F at 3pm).

Having some bad hand days, will see Rheumy about knees on Monday.

Sad to hear about Diane here - got that news on same day as news of

Ann is here, wrapped in a down comforter with Steve the Cat sitting on
top and both of us complaining mightily about the cold weather. Minus
11 or something like that last night and forecast is up in the 50's over
the weekend. Sending prayers for all those troubled and in need and
hopes of spring sunshine for those suffering from pain due to the
weather.

Can relate to the kid stuff and the car stuff..sorry about your mom. cancer
is something we went through a couple of years ago with my grandpa (lung and
brain cancer). I know it can be trying at times. Hang in there .

Hi all.
I am here. We actually have been having very nice weather. It has been
close to 60 degrees F. Don't believe all you hear about Canada being
the frozen North.

Things are marching along in my little world. Sister #1, Iris, seems
that she is on her way to recovery. She has no infection, and is able
to walk with crutches!! It is exciting news.
Sister #2 is struggling with her lung issues, but more importantly
with the fact that her husband now has cancer. He had a web conference
with the surgeons and other specialists last week, and on Tuesday is
scheduled for his pre-op appointment. His surgery is on the 19th. The
tumor is supposed to be the size of a lemon and is attached to the
windpipe.

I completed a course last Monday, went away to an awesome conference
last week, and wrote my students' reports this week.I actually could
not sleep last night so got up at 3 AM, and finished my reports. I was
not much this morning, I can tell you! I was able to proof-read my
reports and submit them at about 4:45 this evening.

My next course starts Monday. What will I do with all my spare time
until then? (Kidding)

Janice here
We have had a rough 2007. started with my back surgery and the
complications, then lost our little pet, Lucy of 12 years, my back still
not healed from surgery. husband has been sick for 2 weeks. wont go to the
doc. I think he has had the flu. bad coughing and cold and now he has
stomach problems. had an accident, ran over something in road and tore up
transmission, and our car (1995 cad) is totaled. Insurance wont pay a dime.
say we needed to have collision and we only have comprehensive. oh well
cant fight the ins cos. it wont do any good. we've tried. gonna have to buy
a car but neither of us are able to go look at one. hopefully we will be
well enough to start looking soon.. were driving the old truck and it will
get us to the supermarket and the doctor appts I have. things gotta get
better. guess we gotta pray a little harder. love to all. Stay well!!
janice

I'm here, but hurting. Saw my RD today and he saw no real change
arthritis-wise, so it must all be a fibro flare. Our whirlwind trip to
Chicago didn't help, but the opera we saw was worth the trip! (even with our
arrival home at 2:15 am, driving from Flint in nasty weather)

<chuckle> Puddin' was quite unhappy with us for leaving him alone for two
and half days! He definitely chastized us on our return. Who says cats
aren't social?

Hopefully the local massage therapist and I can finally get together in the
next couple of days and get to work on getting this body feeling better.

prayers for your husband, Cindy. I was telling someone about him the other
day -= someone who was getting the traditional mesh put in. It's just awful
what he's had to endure through the years with his body's rebellion. May
this new mesh be the answer.

Answering a few at once here. Sorry but I am not doing good right now so
taking the lazy way out so I don't have to reopen all those messages. ;-)

Rose, Adelle, Janice, Nann, and Cindy,
my thoughts and prayers are with each of you and your families during all
the trying times you are all going thru.

Rose,

I am so glad to hear Iris is on her way to recovery. I hope your other
sister and her hubby have better news down the road. I am still keeping all
in my prayers and thoughts.

I am sorry you didn't get much sleep but at least you got your reports done.
It sure sounds like you are keeping busy.

Adelle,

It sure does sound like it is a little overwhelming at your house. I will
still have your family and you in my prayers and thoughts. I hope it was not
too serious with your sister. I am sorry to hear the chemo didn't work for
your mom.

Janice,

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your pet Lucy. I feel for you and my
heart goes out to you. I am sorry your hubby is ill (that was cute I typed
huggy instead of hubby and had to fix it, but I guess he could be your
huggy too). Oh that is terrible about the car and that the insurance won't
give you any toward it. Sorry to hear that, hope it works out ok. I sure
hope your back gets to doing better soon.

Nann,

I hope the massage therapist can help your fms flare. Good to hear that the
trip was worth it for the opera you saw.

Cindy,
Hope you stop flaring soon too. Sorry to hear hubby is down again too. I
will pray with you also th at it doesn't get rejected. You take care of you
too with those hospital runs and the flaring.

Wishing you all the best things in life and health.

Doing ok here. Getting ready for dog shows on 17th & 18th and also 14th
April. Fun, fun, fun.

My husband finally is getting some relief too. He switched to oxycodone
and the patches for breakthrough pain. He looks about 10 years younger
without all that killer pain.

Default Roll call..want to make sure everyone is ok

I'm here, although in a little bit of pain. Everyone in the office has
been sick - I dodged the stomach virus (thank goodness), but the sinus-
y stuff got me. Luckily, I was scheduled for my yearly physical last
Friday, when the symptoms were just starting (little bit of post-nasal
drip & a dry cough). The doc gave me a prescription for a cough syrup/
decongestant so I could get the gunk out of my head before it turned
into an infection. I dropped it off at the pharmacy & went out with
some friends for dinner. When I went back to pharmacy, they told me
they couldn't fill the Rx, because they couldn't read doc's
handwriting - they would need to wait until Monday, when they could
call him for clarification. So I waited & got worse - I felt bad
enough to stay home Monday, but thought that I would get my medicine &
start feeling better. When I called pharmacy, they told me that they
had talked to the doc, but that they didn't have that medicine in
stock & would have to order it. So, finally, Tuesday, I got the
medicine, but it didn't help a whole lot, since I now had a full-blown
sinus infection/upper respiratory infection. Wednesday, I called the
doc's office to get them to call in an antib for me, since I had just
been there & now had icky mucus. Doc wasn't in, so they would have to
call the Rx in on Thurs. Meanwhile, Wed. was supposed to be my Humira
dose, but I knew not to take it, because of the infection. So here I
am now, achy & still sick (I am sooooo tired of coughing). If I don't
feel better PsA-wise by Monday, I may get a pred burst to hold me over
until I can take the Humira again. I totally hate doing that, because
the burst makes my psoriasis flare up really badly, even thought it
makes my arthritis calm down. A total catch-22, huh.

Anyway, sorry for the whine, but it has just been an all around crappy
week, what with Diane's passing & these illnesses stacking up like
cordwood.

Love you guys! Please give Diane's family my condolences.

What a miserable week. Sounds like your doctor needs a printing course. I
have read where they would like to have doctor's print the prescription
off - my one doctor uses his computer - he has his usual prescriptions on
file and can do it from there and sign his name. Sure was easy to read.

Hopefully you can get by without a pred burst. Wise not to take that humira
though.

Gentle hugs,
Kelly

Hello All,

I'm still here. Lurking usually, don't post much but i do try to come
by and read and catch up on everyone. It will be a year In April
since my dad passed away. I had been his caregiver for 10 years so I
missed him a lot. Niki is doing much better this year. It is a year
this month since she had her second shunt replacement in a year. I
stay sore most of the time, but it is tolerable. I'm sure everyone is
looking forward to spring as much as I am.

Di here. I'm doing OK. I've been very busy. Within the past few
months, I've moved, had the flu, worked hard, and continue to pursue my
passion, that being photography. I've been learning bird photography
and bought myself a new toy, a Tamron 200-500mm lens so I can get as
close as possible. Crawling closer is the challenge because 500mm just
isn't close enough. And crawling with these shoulders and knees is
quite the challenge.

Speaking of shoulders and knees ...... My shoulders are doing OK. Hurt
every day, but not enough to require any intervention. My left knee has
been an issue, wherein pain began a few weeks ago, and is progressing
rather rapidly. My RD injected my knee yesterday with
cortisone/lidocaine. That didn't hurt as much as when I had my wrist
injected about two months ago. Yikes, that sucked. My wrist is better,
but not best. I don't think it will ever qualify as "best" anymore.
Today, I will pamper my knee with ice and painkillers, if it needs it.
But, I think it's feeling better already. Again, not best.

The Dupuytren's contracture in my right hand is progressing slowly, but
no need for surgery yet. It's just a tangle of nodules in the middle of
my palm that looks like a bruised mess. Rarely hurts, sometimes itches,
and my fingers aren't contracting yet. My hand is definitely tighter,
and my once hypermoble hand is no longer. Very bizarre syndrome, IMO.

Since my flu about one month ago, I've had this miserable cough. My RD
has ordered chest xrays and a pulmonary function test to rule out MTX
lung. Until the PFT is done, March 29th if I remember correctly, I'm
off MTX. I hate that drug anyway, so the break from it is very welcome.
I do believe the tests will come back negative, and it'll just show as
some residual flu crap.

Anyway, I'm still here, doing reasonably well, rather status quo, and
enjoying life alot. Now, I'll do some more catching up. In fact, I
just may need to hit the "catch up" button on my news reader and just
start from day one, today. :-)

Peace,

Plantmistress,

I hope the pain lets up soon for you. Glad you dodged the stomach virus, but
you must have side stepped and got in the sinus line. I hope the infection
is clearing.

Man I would have been furious with the treatment you got till you finally
got the meds.

That is weird about the pred burst and the psoriasis. If I take like 5-10 mg
of it, it actually starts clearing mine up. Different strokes for different
folks I guess.

take care

Di,

I have been wondering how you were doing.
I am glad you are doing ok. It sounds like you have been busy.

My one friend had the flu and it has been 7 weeks and she is still coughing.
That is after antib treatment too for pneumonia. So it does sound like it
lasts a long time.

Just to let you know that so you don't worry about it being RA lung.
