Default ? send medication to Australia

Does anyone know how to send medication to Australia from USA? My
husband is working there and his one month is turning into four months
    - so he's running low on arthritis pills. USPS says they can't as it
needs permission from the AU Director of Health at incoming customs.
I was going to send it with another employee in his check in baggage,
but Airlines said pill bottle must match name on Airline ticket. I
haven't tried FEDX yet. Tried our mail order pharmacy to no avail.
Thots anyone. I'll try any ideas that don't land me in jail <g>.

His time there was changed by your company because he was needed. I would
talk to them about your,,, his problem. I think they will find a way.

I would think it would be easier (and less hassle legally) for him
to get more of the medicine in Australia to take until he returns
home. They have pretty much everything there that we have here.

Have him ask at the pharmacy there or at a local hospital if you mailed
him a script from here if he could have it filled in Australia. Maybe
even his doctor here could fax it there.

I would go into any doctor's office and explain the situation and tell
him or her how much you need and for how long. If he wants to contact
the doc at home let him, but probably he will just write you enough to
get through the time you want to stay in Oz. If you're going to stay
for some time then you'll just have to get a local doc to take up the
treatment, otherwise you should be able to get the stuff locally.

You didn't state what area you're in. Many countries have a consul in
larger American cities. If you reside near one, that would be the
place to visit for correct information, rather than from a friend of a
    friend's uncle.

One question: how did hubby get his medications into Oz when he
    traveled there for his company?

.... Don't squat with your spurs on.

He could go to a doc. here and get a private prescription (The tablets
could be expensive without coverage though) You could check the cost of a
private prescription at www.pbs.gov.au . He would most likely not be able
to use a prescription from a U.S. doctor because they don't have
registration here. You could probably get a letter from a doctor there
though stating he needed the medicine attach it in a sealed envelope to the
outside of the box with the customs declaration and post it to Australia
with the appropriate customs declaration form attached and it should get
    through.
I used this process once in reverse when I had to send medicine overseas. I
check with customs in Australia though before attempting to send any
substance that might be controlled( e.g. strong pain medicine) as they would
most likely seize something like that.
