Re: spelling & grammer issues Melinda, that is my pet peeve also. I want to say, "Repeat the sentence
leaving out one of those and see how it sounds." You wouldn't say "the
process was explained to I".

What bugs me even more is "the store opened it's doors for he and
I'. We have a game where the kids get points for spotting misuse of
a subjective or objective pronoun on television. The misuse of
subjective pronouns far outdistances the misuse of objective ones.
I am beginning to see I misused so often that even some academics I
know can't seem to figure out which is subjective and which is
objective. Read a wonderful book by a fairly literate author a few
days ago and, low and behold, there was a glaring "the process was
explained to Don and I." I think the reason it bothers me so much is
that for some reason, "I" has gotten a reputation as being more
correct than "me", without a context. The pretentious "I" is so
common in our pop culture that I am afraid we might see the death of
"me" yet!
I also cringe at the "I am looking to...." that follows any request
and appears constantly on Craigslist. . I do love a good phrasal
verb now and then but please not “looking to...."
