Steroid shot

My RA got in the full gear mode the day before yesterday. Could not
close either hand or reach above my head with either hand (shoulders),,,,
both knees swollen and painful. In other words, in full blown flare mode.
I had put it off as long as I could and called the Research center to talk
to anyone with the message that I need help to go on. They told me to come
in right away.
Ya see, I am in an experimental medicine program for new medicines and
it seems that I am getting the placebo. Somebody has to be the one and I
am it,,,it seems. I am in it because I can not pay what Enbrel has to have
to receive their drug,,,, $1600 dollars a month. When a person is on S.S.
that does not leave much to live on. Most people do not have any idea what
their medicines cost. They have insurance and it pays. Well,,,, I have
pretty good insurance and have used up most of it for this year. They
offered to put me on a plan with Enbrel but I had already joined a program
of research.
With my RA,, I have no complaints. I know soooo many people that
are far worse than my case. No joints replaced,,, no hospital time in my
life for anything. Anyway, I get my steroid shot and it went to work right
away. Here it is,,, two days later and I am thinking about doing some
trimming in the back yard..... The RN I was talking to said my next study
appointment was the end of the exp. program. Everyone would be one the real
medicine. I will tell everyone how it goes on the real stuff. A pill
taken to handle inflam.arth from Europe..... I have been posting in
alt.support.arth. for about 20 years and a few of you know me pretty well.
Please let me close now by saying that I wish all of you a Merry Christmas

really do love you all the same amount. LOL

So glad you were able to get in to see some one and get the steroid
injections!

We all know that there are always people a whole lot worse off than we
are, but when you are in a big time flare, that all really doesn't
matter! You HURT and that is what the focus is!

Really happy to hear you are doing better, but please be careful and
don't over do it. Give your poor body time to settle down completely
from that flare.

Sorry that ou are on the placebo group with the med! Isn't that just
how it always seems to go at times?

How long before the point where you will get the actual med and to see
how you do with it? Hope that is coming up soon for you my friend!

About a month and then everyone gets to see what the real medicine is going
to work.... I have a chance that it will not be for me but the chance that
it will great is good enough to take the chance.,,,,,,,,Harv
