Default Update

Haven't been online in a while so I thought I would update everyone what is
going on at our house.

I am healing now from my back surgery. my incision is healing well and my
back, hip and leg pain is gone, so I feel my surgery for the stenosis was a
success, my doctor said he removed(scraped) away much of my arthritis put in
screws. pins, post, and only he knows what else.
Did have some other complications while in hospital, I contracted pumonia
and my blood pressure dropped to a scary low. Had to have 6 pts of blood
and strong antibiotics.
I had a rough time after getting home. Had a bout of post-op depression
which no one told me about. I thought I was loosing my mine. Didn't eat for
3 weeks. Doctor wanted me to walk and my joints acted up and
I couldn't hardly get out of bed much less walk I am finally walking some
now and beginning to have a appetite.

I feel I was on the way to improvement and then this am we woke up, but
our little min-pin LUCY whom we have had for almost 12 years did not awake.
We lost her. She was lying in our bed as she always sleeps but just didn't
awake. We knew she was a sick baby, her heart was so enlarged, the vet had
told us it could happen anytime. we had thought of having her put down but
the doc said she wasn't in any pain so we just let nature do the rest. We
will miss her so much. She was such a faithful and loyal baby. She loved us.
We will always love her. Right now we don't know if we will get another pet
or not. I know they are a joy but not sure if we can stand the grief we
must go through when loosing one. Guess time will tell.

Hi Janice,
Thanks for the update. I am sorry to hear about all you have gone
through, including the post op depression. It can be significant.

My heart goes out to you on your loss of Lucy. I know that it is small
consolation that she went peacefully, and that nature took its course.
I can relate to how you are feeling there.

Take care and please keep in touch with us on this forum.

Janice, I'm so sorry about your pup. Take consolation in the fact that
she died where she felt most comfortable, with you near her. I felt the
same several times about getting no more animals, but that feeling never
lasted too long and I've always had a pet in the house.

The surgery sounds like a great success if it got rid of your pain and I
hope the after effects are going away now.

Hi Janice,,, You have so much to be thankful for with your operation but
loosing your dog is not one of them. Been there done that.... Please
give that time to heal also before getting another dog. My niece is the
head person for a hospital on recovery from operations like yours and it is
not always the same on what is the best way to get your life and abilities
back to near normal. It is a fine line between getting your support
structure for a joint strong enough to recover correctly and how much pain a
person has to endure with exercise. We need to have your here to talk with
others that are going to go through this type of operation. You will read
what worked best from others here that have been though this as you do the
best you can to make it all work.

Your surgery sounds like it really took allot out of you and I am glad that
you are back posting. I know it really helps to post and just to get it out
when you are sick or flaring or going through this mess.
I will pray for you and your family that you guys have many pleasant days
ahead and that 2007 will be a good year!

rhonda, i'm so sorry about the loss of your fur baby. i know it's
small comfort, but i wish all my fur babies could go like that, lying
next to me, in no pain, after a good long life. nothing can make up
for her loss, though, i know. you turn around and expect to see her
and she's not there. i hate that part.

take care of yourself. it's hard to have to heal both physically and
emotionally at the same time.

hugs,

diane

wow, Janice, you really went through it with your surgery! It's good to hear
that you have come through it and are having good results from the op.

My condolences on the loss of Lucy. You'll have a min-pin shaped empty spot
for some time to come. Pets are so good for the soul - we're coming up on
one year since Puddin' found us and it still amazes me how his cute ways lift
us up on days when we're feeling down.
