Default update

Well we are all moved in, the old house is clean, and most of my boxes are
unpacked. The view from my computer desk is incredible. It is 9:00 at
night, the horizon is slightly pink, 2 ferries are coming in - one of them
the spirit which is the large one. Hardly a ripple at the moment. Of
course if I were outside I could hear the announcements but that is beside
the point. In a few minutes when the ferry docks (just outside my yard) if
I were outside I could smell the burgers and fries and diesel. But it is
nice to see - all the tourists take pictures as they are leaving.

My sewing machine got a little workout tonight which is nice. I almost have
my room 1/2 unpacked and useful.

On the health front, the rituxan side effects are finally fading. Of course
we had to replace them with something and sure enough my urine and blood
showed a raging bladder infection. I suggested to the nurse that I would
come in next week when she phoned on Tuesday. I was informed I would be in
at 10:00 on Wednesday - no later. So of course I did - 2 weeks of
antibiotics again. He asked why I didn't notice it this time - replied I
had so many other aches and pains and crap happening that didn't really look
for anything else. It wasn't hugely symptomatic yet - no blood in the urine
yet obviously although it showed up on the tests.

So after a day of antibiotics I have some strength left.

Anyhow back on the newsgroup but have barely touched the posts. Rose - hang
in there - it feels so good to have moved but I remember the selling stuff
way too well. Also with the course work, end of school etc. - well take it
as easy as you can. Hope your sisters and bil are hanging in there.

Donna - never doubted you would get your license back - you go girl! And
flowers - what a treat.

The mail person delivered new shoe laces - must be for the shoes that I am
going to get once the rituxan works - you know the one size smaller that
don't fit inflamed feet! The black ones are on the shoes I have been
wearing and I can't believe how much they are helping - better than the ones
I had for sure! Thanks so much!

SJ - been thinking of you and hoping your problems can be solved a bit. Is
there an agency there that can help with housing, food, meds etc.? I just
don't know the american system. We have some programs that would help here
but then we are in a socialized system and pay more taxes to do that. Wish
I could help you out in some way. Know that would help eleviate some of the
stress. Hopefully you can keep on top of the med stuff though - will make
some difference. Keep trying to get some exercise - even if in a chair each
day to keep range of motion. I have also been working on square breathing
which is helping lung capacity. You breath in imagining a square. Breathe
in for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, breathe out for 4 then hold for 4.
Repeat. Sit tall, increase the counts as you get good at it. I am up to 18
counts on a good day but it takes concentration to imagine the square, do
the counting evenly and relax but sit in a good posture position.
Apparently it will increase lung capacity but in my case it does wonders for
my blood pressure. I did it during my rituxan treatment when I was having
reactions and they couldn't believe how much my bp was lowered during the
time. anyhow free - which always helps.

Dee Tee - thinking of you and hoping these treatments are moving right
along. As my girlfriend kept saying during her treatments - breathe, breathe
and breathe. Eventually they will end and things will improve. Have to
believe it - especially with all of us rooting for you/

Kiki - so glad that things went well with your hip operation. Just keep
doing what they say and keep up the exercises they have given you. It will
go great and then you can tackle the other things.

Know I have missed many. Melinda - hope you got my email and it didn't
freak you out too much. Have been thinking of you and burning a few candles
in my mind (haven't found my box of candles or matches yet. Know they are
somewhere but might have to buy a new one this week.)

Anyhow I am back. Tired but things are feeling at home and can cook in the
kitchen and sew and have a good bed (but no dressers as yet - we had built
in ones in our closet - oops.) Would kill for a bath though instead of a
shower. No way can do that in this bathroom.

Take care everyone and thanks for the good wishes - I know they help.

Kelly

Glad to hear you got moved in, cleaned the house annd unpacked some. Boy you
were moving. ;-)

I am glad the view from your computer desk is incredible. That helps things
out.

I am glad the side effects from the Rituxan is fading. That is good news to
hear. Now I hope the meds work wonders for you.

Jim has worked Mon and now Thur and today. So every little bit helps. I have
to go on another bp med so that will be two now.

We have tried so many programs and keep getting no as an answer that they
won't help us.

I am going to try to remember to do the breathing exercise and see what it
will do for my lungs and bp. Thanks for sharing that.

You take care and rest up now for awhile.

Kelly, I don't even know how you do it! I hope your antibiotics kick in fast
and you can get to enjoying your interim sewing room.

You need to get stranded while out of town as we did - we scored a great deal
at a motel that had only king jacuzzi rooms left. You know we both had a
nice soak in that jacuzzi tub!

Oh, and while I'm sending wishes, may the rituxan kick in quickly, too!

Hi Kelly,
I am sooooo envious. I wish I were at that stage. I have had one set
of people viewing the house that seemed interested, but they had a
couple of other houses to view. I am thinking they may have chosen one
of the other houses, as I have not heard back. Most of the people who
have seen my house claim that it is too small. It is ideal for a
retired person or someone like me, with some limitations.

The house that I made the offer on (subject to sale of this house)
does not have a walk in shower upstairs, and that is a bit of a worry
for me, because I know that some days even getting into the tub to
shower will be difficult. I will get one of the tub lifts right away
though. Anyway there may be no need to worry about that- the deal I
made is subject to my home being sold by the 25th. Since that is only
ten days away it may not happen. There is another house that just came
up that is suitable for someone in a wheelchair; it would be perfect
but it it about twenty thousand more than the house I made the offer
on. There are so many things for me to worry about.

I have been very busy, and a bit negligent with ASA. Between
coursework and school, and all my extra duties I feel like I am on a
hamster wheel going round and round but getting nowhere.

My sisters are both doing well. Iris stopped using her cane (saying
she did not want it to be a crutch). Harold is improving. Things are
definitely looking up in that regard.

I can not wait to hear that you are doing better with the rituxan.
Until then I will keep my fingers crossed.

BTW, I just came home from having coffee with Janet N from Edmonton,
who is in town for the Suburu rally. As always it was great
fun.Suzanne was going to come, but had company so could not. It would
have been great to meet her too.

Thanks Diane, feels so good to know things are done. Did go out and do
some much needed shopping today. The rental didn't have a microwave and
needed it for my rice bag. Have gone a week without it and couldn't do
another day.

A jacuzzi tub - I miss my soaker tub so much. I hate showers and believe me
if I was here for more than 5 months I would invest $1500 in a aquatec so I
could have a bath.

We are staying in a hotel next Tuesday night and a soaker tub is on my want
list. And a pool! Going to Vancouver to see Kyle for the day and get my
haircut. Kyle is turning 5 week after next (my nephew) and is mom is
babysitting next Tuesday (he lives in Seattle most of the time). also
taking my son and his girlfriend out for dinner. I am staying 3 days so I
can pace myself a bit. Want to go to a lecture on neuropathic pain on
Monday night - sure not much on it except on the web and it is wishy-washy.

My sewing room is packed - but I did sew a little this weekend.

Thanks nann. Glad that passport came in.

I have fingers crossed for you Rose. The aquatec bathchair comes in at
around $1500 and there are some used around. Works like a charm! I have it
on my wish list if the rituxan doesn't improve things substantially.

Someone will come around for the house - would be nice sooner than later
though. Bet you will be glad to see June 29th come around though. know
Jess is counting the moments now but she is down to exams etc.

Take care - wish I could have met Janet too. Sounds like great fun.
