Default update on me

Dear Friends,

My spinal surgeon released me yesterday! PT was finished last
Friday. My back is 99.9 percent better. I scheduled my shoulder
surgery for 6-6. My surgeon is out of town!

Now I just have to get through my daughter's high school graduation.
She, my husband, and I are planning to play Handel's Water Music as
part of her graduation. My shoulder really hurts with playing! (And
I'm gonna miss my daughter!)

Thanks for caring!

Vickie B.

Vickie, I hope your shoulder surgery will have as good results as your back.

What do each of you play when doing "Water Music"? Take some pain meds for
your shoulder before playing.

My granddaughter graduates on next Thursday night. She so wanted to be
valedictorian but ended up being salutatorian. I told her she was just
copying me; the valedictorian's average was 95 2/7 and mine was 95 3/7. And
at one time I had called him my boyfriend! We went to school together for
11 years, in the same classes. I'm glad I picked someone else; he and his
wife have no children. I'll miss my granddaughter too when she goes away to
school next fall. They live just around the corner from me.

Oh wow - pain aside - I can just imagine the sweet memories you'll make of
that graduation. That's something she'll always remember.

Feel better in the shoulder and congrats on the back!

Vickie,

Wooohoooooo................so glad to hear you are doing so well with
your back and that you have gotten so much relief! That is wonderful.

Oh, wish I could be at that graduation to hear you all play together.
How precious that is and how wonderful and meaningful that will be to
all of you!!! Very special!!!

Praying that your shoulder surgery will be every bit as successful as
your back surgery was!!!

Blessings,

During "Water Music", I play the piano, my husband the violin, and my
daughter to viola! Yes, we're excited about this!

My daughter is going to an art school in Oregon in October! That's a
long way from Houston! And the school is a twelve month a year school
for four years. They only take four two week breaks per year! My
daughter was homeschooled since third grade! And I just love having
my daughter with me! Yes, she attended all of those therapy, doctor,
etc appointments with me.

Right now, I'm losing weight! (25 pounds since 2-4, 12 in last four
weeks) I'm seeing a nutrionist but I walk twice a day for one mile!
In the morning my daughter is my sole companion. In the evening my
husband will join us!

So you can see why I'd miss my daughter with a capital M!

What I can see is good people living life for all its worth. We have to
give up our offspring so that they can fly,,, soar as high as they can fly
in all kinds of ways. Vickie,,,,,, you have had the good times that many
people never have,,, you have felt the worth,,, the quality of what people
together can have.... Enjoy,,, remember,,, and let go. No one can change
what has taken place. No one can replace what you remember...... Feel
blessed.

Vickie, how I wish I could attend your daughter's graduation! I would
really love to hear you three play. No wonder you are all excited. And no
wonder you will miss your daughter when she leaves in October. Really do
all you can to enjoy the next four months. I just bet she is going to miss
you too.

Congratulations Vickie - you did it both personally and with raising a great
daughter. The next stage of your life will be different - full of instant
mesages, emails, phone calls - laughter and tears and letting go and her
growing up as you have taught her. It is the toughest time - letting go but
being there. You will miss her but be proud at the same time. In a way
year round will be better because she will have several weeks spread out
off.

Sound off to us if you need to but also pay lots of attention to your
husband. If my husband and all our friends are any example they have been
the ones to have the toughest time. I think because they are not relieved
to see the day to day stuff lessened maybe and that they don't realize that
if they aren't calling all the time and are doing well it is a great
reflection on us as parents! That is what we spent all this time doing -
making them independent and able to make their way in the world. My husband
still doesn't get that after 6 years of the boys being gone. The highlight
of tomorrow's mother's day celebration at our house for him is that the boys
are coming home. So if it is mother's day why have I spent all day shopping
and cooking for 9 people tomorrow - his parents, sisters and one of their
friends as well as the boys and us will be here. Of course one special diet
to work around as well - my sister- in- law's friend is allergic to wheat.

Anyhow enjoy the celebration - I love Handel's Water Music - great on you!

I've often wondered the same thing, Kelly, but this year worked out pretty
nice. My son was planning a picnic with his in-laws, my Mom, and me and
their family for Mother's Day. Thanks to the weather, we had it on his
dining room table! Still had great fun. The chicken (store-bought fried)
and potato salad (made by his mother-in-law) both tasted just as good, as
the company was great. My granddaughter (now almost seven months old)
behaved admirably - many smiles around.

I so wish I could be there to hear that trio, Vickie, I love the Water
Music. We look forward to much more news about how well your daughter is
doing in life. God bless.
