Default Breast Pain

I don't have breast cancer, but found this group three years ago when I
had a lumpectomy. I got lucky.

My question today is: Does a breast lump become suspicious only when it
is located near or under the armpit?

I have a sore spot (not sure if it could be classified as a lump) of
tiny bumps located near the edge of my breast,
at center of my chest. It is still on the breast, but opposite the
armpit. Should I be concerned even if the sore area is not near the
armpit? I just had a mammogram in February and all was good.

Thanks.

Kate

No, the majority of cancers are in that part of the breast, but by no
means all. Likewise most but not all cancers are painless in the early
stages. The main distinguishing feature of the great majority is that
they grow slowly but inexorably, whereas many other breast complaints
tend to come and go.

So by all means get it checked out by a doctor, certainly if it doesn't
improve or deteriorates over the next few weeks.
