Default 6 Years

'Twas 6 years ago today that I had the diseased organ plucked from my belly.

It's been six years of ups and downs, but God has been good to me lately and
I think I'm going to enjoy another decade or two.

Thanks to y'all who have been there for me in the valleys. I wish you all a
very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, or ... Big Bang!

Steve, I'll take the Big Bang if I could choose. Nevertheless,
congratulations on 6 years.

I'm at year 3, but things are progressing too fast for my comfort.
Currently sitting at 0.9 PSA which is a rise from 0.3 from 2 months ago
following taxotere. I have also developed some pain in my hip area -
going through a series of tests now.

Congratulations on the 6. Hard to believe that it has been that long. In 4
months I'll celebrate 5...

I'm sorry to hear that Richard; on both counts. I thought the taxture would
help; for a little while at least.

I'm sure you know that we all think we have mets whenever we get pains in
our hips (or ribs, backs, shoulders, knees and feet). Sometimes, it's just
a function of being 57 years old. However, I guess a met would explain the
rising PSA. But, still, it doesn't make sense to me that taxotere would
have no effect at all.

Steve, I appreciate your reply. I probably didn't word my post too
well. The taxotere took my PSA down to 0.2 at which time I stopped
treatments. The following PSA results were, then, 0.3 and 0.9 - each 2
months apart. So, I am a responder to taxotere, but hormone refractory.

I can relate to your comments on "pain" - I'm almost hoping it's the
regular aches and stuff for a (I'm 60 now) year old. I've also been on
zoladex for 3 years which takes its toll on the body.

Thanks for your reply!

Rich

Congrats Steve, and I hope to have you around well into our 4th decade of
infighting! Happy holiday to all.

Steve,

You have also helped others through the valleys. The next six years
will be better for you.

Congratulations, Steve. I mostly just lurk here now. You are very
helpful with your responses to this group. I'm planning now for a
report to the group on March 5, 2007, when it will be 10 years from my
surgery.

As you can imagine, I wait with anticipation. You're one of the few that I
know that went off Casodex and had a PSA reduction.
