Default ADDITIONAL RESEARCHES

with reference to my previous post "bad news" I just returned from the
oncologist visit.
No dear Steve Kramer, he did not put me back on casodex; he wants additional
researches: namely
1- Pet-Cat scan with colina (the previous one done almost 9 months ago it is
not good for him)
2- transrectal echography
3- radiotherapist advice
4- new PSA test within 2 months.
At completion of such tests I shall return to him on mid september....so far
no therapy.

I don't recall you having ever had radiotherapy to your prostate bed. If
that's true, maybe he is leaning toward that. Of course, he would want the
scans before going that route because if he finds any evidence of the cancer
outside the area, the radiation will not be effective.

Of course, I did not recall you having Casodex in February, but I was
corrected on that. So maybe I missed a radiation treatment in your history.

I am at a loss to figure out your doctor's intentions. In the U.S., the
typical progression of treatment would have been surgery, then radiation,
then Lupron, then Casodex. I understand why your doctor skipped the
radiation in 2006. With your lymph node involvement it would seem to be a
waste of time. I'm not certain why he is now consulting with a radiotherapy
specialist unless he considers that metastases are likely. In which case,
localized radiation would be one option.

In any case, I think you are lucky that your doctor is consulting with so
many others. I'm sure your treatment will be personalized to you.
