The American Cancer Society, the California Breast Cancer Research
Program, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the James A. Schlipmann
Melanoma Cancer Foundation, Giant Kids, and many other reputable
organizations -- are all partners with the World Community Grid which is
helping the Cancer Institute of New Jersey with its cancer research
through the WCG "Help Defeat Cancer" project. Some of you might be
interested in listening to a podcast by Dr. David Foran, professor and
lead researcher at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey; his podcast is
here:

Members of the WCG advisory board include representatives from IBM
(which created the WCG), the Mayo Clinic, the World Health Organization,
the United Nations, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and many
colleges. Yesterday (11/16/06) the WCG was two-years old, and it has
already completed more than 64,000 YEARS of computer research by using
the Internet to collect spare (wasted) computer power from volunteers'
computers. Dr. Foran's podcast explains how safe and secure this
program is, so I hope that some of you will become interested in
participating because much more can be done with more volunteers.
