Default Hot Flashes and Flu Shot

I got my first flu shot ever yesterday at 11 a.m. By 8 p.m. last evening,
while everyone was whining that it was getting too cold in the living room
and I was hot. I had my bedroom window open all night (went down to 50
degrees) and I was constantly kicking off my covers to cool off. Right now,
it's 67 in this room and I'm sweating.

Just wondered if any other ADT patients have had this reaction. Or is this
a common reaction for non-ADT patients.

    Hi Steve;
Same thing happened to me last week, had the flu shot on Tuesday, and for
two days I could not cool off.
    On Lupron/Casodex.

Am on ADT3. Have gotten flu shots for years. Have never had hot
flashes as described by you, before, not did I this year with my first
    flu shot since beginning ADT3.
Which, as we both know, proves nothing.

Nothing is *common*, due to many factors. I have been getting a flu shot
since my Dad fell ill with congestive heart failure some 15 years ago. I am
fairly sensitive/allergic to it cuz it is incubated in eggs, but the
complete absence of bronchitis or pneumonia type colds in December make that
a small price to pay. My arm is usually swollen, red and sore for 2 weeks.

Some years I have a huge reaction, others I have none. P*sses me off that
Ron NEVER has a reaction, whether on HT or not. So put him on the *no side
    effect* list.

So it basically boils down to your particular genetic makeup (for lack of a
better explanation) and what the heck they put into the shot, IMO. This
year I had the *pneumovax* once in a lifetime shot........doctor said there
were no SE's.......my rotator cuff was very painful for a few days. Ron had
his yesterday, along with tetanus.....absolutely no SE's. DAMN!! (G)

And just as a bit of info, Ron asked our family doctor what we should do
about swine flu and the shot. She said absolutely do NOT get it. But to
get our regular shot. So that is where she and the medical community seemed
to stand yesterday. The irony is that by the time they get it out to the
public at large in the US and here, the swine flu pandemic (assuming there
is one) will have come and gone. Frankly I think it is being blown a bit
out of proportion and will listen to my doctor.
