Default I thought of Hughie . . .

I though of Hughie's recipes when I read today of some *appetizers*
being served by American restaurants. 2,000 calories and 150 grams of
fat, more than half of them being sat fat, plus up to 32 teaspoons of
sugar. That's more calories than most of us need in a whole day and
something like five times the sat fat and sugar I eat in a week, and
it's just the *warmup* for just *one* meal in some slob's *single day*.

Our *teenagers* are coming down with Type II (i.e., self-induced)
diabetes, and many of them are facing self-induced amputations and
blindness *long* before they're old enough to even think about getting
their PSA checked or a PAP smear.

Now I just gotta know one more thing about these restaurants: WHERE ARE
THEY, so I can eat like a pig on pot between the time I become terminal
and the time I lose my appetite? Fajitas and strawberry shortcake are
great, but I really would like to top off my life with the kind of
outrageous gustatory crap I ate decades ago.

When I go to restaurants these days, it just seems that the portions
of everything are just too big.

I was at a TGI Fridays with the family a few weeks ago, and made the
mistake of ordering Dunkers. Ten small doughnuts, deep-fried and
coated with a lot of cinnamon sugar., then served with a bowl of icing
for dipping. Maybe I could eat two of those type of douhnuts once in
awhile, but ten at one sitting?

I wish I had that problem. I've always been a huge eater, which is one
of the reasons I need to eat healthy food. If I ate a large thick pizza
and two chocolate malts for lunch *every* day -- plus breakfast and
supper -- I just might get fat.
