Default Incontinence during sex

I am 55 years old and about six months out from having a radical
prostatectomy. I found a good doctor and all went well with both nerves
spared. My erections are now about eighty percent of what they were before
the surgery... well, at least at times it is. Incontinence is not much of a
problem any more with only a little leakage from stress incontinence now and
then. That is with the exception of when I am having sex. For some reason,
while having sex, I develop some leakage which is enough to usually make me
just stop. It does not occur at first but usually occurs before we are
finished. It is not from stress or straining in any way. This occurs with
or without Viagra but seems there is more leakage with it.

My next follow up visit to my urologist is in a couple of weeks but I
thought I would ask this group what your experiences have been. Anyone
having a similar problem or I am just "lucky"? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,
Rick

In the discussions we've had about that problem, I don't recall any
solutions being offered other than a condom (and the fact that healthy
urine is sterile). I'd need one with Kevlar reinforcement and a
few-ounce tip reservoir.

Having same problem age 54, 4 months out. Dr. said pelvic floor
muscles still weak and should resolve over time. Less leakage for me
if laying down as opposed to standing.

You're just lucky. Google "golden shower".

Seriously, from what I've read here and from discussions, you're doing
pretty good.

Yes! Your tremendously lucky! Six months, 80% and having sex? Wow!!!

As to urine leakage, it is very common and, in my case, decreased over time.

A few ideas to deal with small amounts of leakage, some of which have
already been noted, including using a condom, water-based lubricant
(KY, etc.), emptying the bladder before foreplay; and, when
masturbating (either yourself or by a partner) use a dry washcloth,
handkerchief, or other cotton fabric over the hand; place a towel on
the bed. As mentioned by others, kegels can help over the long term.

I'm 48, seven weeks post RRP, two to three pads a day, 80% firmness
(have noticed recent improvement aided only by Cialis after two
Caverject injections). Arousal and orgasm take significantly longer to
reach, but are ultimately satisfying. I do a few sets of kegels per day
and, as of now, have had six accupuncture treatments.

Good luck and don't give up on yourself.

I'd be picking the handkerchief off the wall sometimes. Even with the
towel wrapped tightly around everything, I still get soaked at times.

Buy a jacuzzi or oversized shower if the problem doesn't subside.

This topic comes up regularly. Your experience is not uncommon. In my
case, it got considerably better with time, and now it almost never
happens.

Urologists regularly point out that urine is sterile, if you don't have
a bladder infection. Also, while a normal erection in a man with a
prostate does cut off the flow of urine, it is doubtful that it
eliminates it entirely. I certainly remember times before my surgery
when I thought some urine must be mixed in with the ejaculate. This
aeems to be purely a psychological issue.

My wife was never bothered by it. She always took a bath after
intercourse for other reasons anyway. My advice is to empty your
bladder before sex and not to worry about it. If it freaks your wife
out, you might consider wearing a condom.

If you go back a couple of weeks here, someone posted a really good
physiological reason for why it happens. I have found a perfect solution. A
penis ring not only keeps urine from leaking, but also works wonders for
erections as well. It can make a partial erection a full one by forcing the
blod flow up, and keepng it there.

I want to give my sincere thanks to all of you who responded to my post. I
feel a lot better now knowing that it is apparently a fairly common problem
and not just something unique to my case (me)... In other words, "misery
loves company", "we are all in this together", or as my profession states,
"the universality of the problem can be very therapeutic." I knew that going
to the "experts" would give me the help I need at this time. I am glad I
joined the group! I now feel like I have support as well as a lot of
suggestions from you which gives me options that I have not yet considered.
And Yes, I do now feel "lucky."
Thanks again,
Rick

I wouldn't worry too much about the leakage
It will go away after a year or so

Or not.
We just can't make blanket statements like that.
