Default Lithotripsy after Brachy - followup

I'm scheduled for lithotripsy Wednesday morning after several bouts of
kidney stones too large to pass. I've checked with the urologist that will
be doing the procedure and he assures me that the new procedure is
concentrated in the area of the kidney and will not dislodge any of the
seeds. My daughter had the procedure last fall and she can't recall any
follow-on pain or soreness.

Last time I had it done it didn't even dislodge the kidney stone. The
Doc assured me they got it. Went home, still felt like I had it. A
month later for a check up and the CAT scan showed the stone still
there!!!. I doubt it will make your seeds move.

That's not encouraging! I read that it's only effective on 70% of patients.
And it only works on the calcified stones. Mine has grown over the last two
months and is not moving. It is now too big to pass. And....I have several
smaller stones in both kidneys. And........I have gall stones.

Well, 30% failure rate is a bummer.

But on the other hand 70% success rate is pretty good.

I'm hoping for the best for you (and I have 70% confidence
that your procedure will work

According to info on medical sites on the Internet they can run a
laser all the way up to the kidney and blast large stones into small
pieces and flush them out. I watched a video of them doing that to a
stone that was about half an inch or so in size. Took about 5
minutes. That was, more or less, how they got my stuck stone out
except it was a couple inches out of the kidney and they chewed up
the ureter so much that now it needs more work because the scar tissue
is restricting it.
