| | | New News Service Well, if finally happened! My current ISP, Verizon, is getting ready to
drastically trim down the number of news servers it will handle (as of June
24th). They will only be handling their own and the Big 8. Of course,
a.s.c.p. is not among them. I sure don't want to give up this newsgroup.
So, this morning I went to Motzarella (thanks, Heather!) and registered for
their free news service. I have configured them in my Outlook Express (news
reader) and this is my first post through their server. I suspect there are
others out there using Verizon who will find themselves in a similar
position. So far, setting up with Motzarella has been pretty
straightforward, and I hope all continues to go smoothly.

reasons, but Motzarella is the best. They also have a news group for
"new users" if you want to talk to the owner. A lot of the posts are in
German cuz that is where it comes from, but the techs are fully
bilingual. And their email tech support is great!!
Cheers.....Heather

I believe you will be quite satisfied with Motzarella. Works for me.

Bev is a Verizon user. I'll send this to her. |

Sounds, cheesy to me. Hee hee, sorry couldn't control myself.
I use Mozilla Thunderbird. Free. Never a problem.
And one can set it up with a wide variety of "skins" that modify the
appearance. I use walnut. The wood grain, not the nut, silly.

| | | Re: New News Service You are welcome. I am not totally surprised that Verizon dropped news
groups. Two of the biggest in Canada did that over a year ago. Rogers
and Bell Sympatico. P*ssed me off, I will tell you, so some of my
friends on the antivirus groups came up with the freebies I have. I am
quite happy with Motzarella. If I use *aioe*, then I don't get Steve
K's pithy comments.....hmmm. (G)
I also have a read-only one called *freetext.usenetnewsserver.com* which
I can fall back on to check that I am getting all of the posts. Or
Google as a LAST resort!!
Cheers.....Heather

I guess it's a good thing that Motzarella is free. :-)
