| | | OT: to all our veterans Someone sent this to me tonight and I liked it . I thought I'd share it with
so many of our veterans out here.
Bev
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is
someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to
"The United States of America," for an amount of "up to and including my
life."
That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no
longer understand it.

Bush wrote such a check, then he wrote VOID across the face of it. |

Saying a National Guard pilot can ignore his obligation and oath
denigrates our National Guard and its pilots. It also stomps on
Beverley's tribute by injecting disproven political rhetoric into a
sincere thread.

| | | Re: OT: to all our veterans I agree, I.P. I liked Beverly's tribute and was sorry to see someone
try to turn it toward political commentary. To the best of my limited
knowledge, prostate cancer knows no political boundaries.
For those interested in making political comments, I'd suggest that
they use one of the alt.politics.xxxxx groups. Included are topics
for democrats, republicans, gw-bush, clinton, etc.

In a country of the people, by the people, and for the people, I like to
think my name is on that check. |

Posting the facts about Bush denigrates Bush, not the guard.

It's not disproved. It's fact. |

JFK was the first to do so, when he eliminate promised lifetime medical care
to retirees and put them in Medicare.
But the men in black robes in D.C. proved him wrong and we got that medical
care back. |

When Bush joined the Guard, his unit was active in Nam; it wasn't his
fault it had rotated back to the states by the time he got his wings.
But even if the "Bush went AWOL" BS were true (the Boston Globe reporter
who invented the story admitted same in print), why start a political
rant in this thread or forum?

It wasn't a rant. It was a comment on an OT post. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
