There are studies for strontium renalate, mostly funded by the company
that has patented that molecule. My endocrinologist feels that the
effects of strontium citrate should be similar. So I tried it for a
year - started wit a 227 mg dose for some months and then up it to the
studies does of 680 mg daily. after about 6 months, I was getting hip
stiffness and aches, so I stopped the strontium and aches cleared up -
I can't be sure it was the cause as I was on other drugs as well. My
bone density went up only marginally.
Another patients experience was more positive. He took the 680 mg dose
for a year without side effects and his bone density improved
noticeably.
Unfortunately drug companies don't want to do the testing unless they
can patent the med. Strontium Ranelate is an approved and prescribed
drug in UK & Europe.
