| | | Volunteers Wanted for Prostate Supplement Study Hi,
My company has been manufacturing and distributing Ayurvedic Herbal
Supplements since 2001.
We developed a supplement to treat prostate enlargement (BPH) several
years ago. Recently we received a testimonial from a man with
prostate cancer stating that our supplement helped lower his PSA.
I want to conduct a study to see how effective our formulation is in
lowering PSA in men with prostate cancer.
We want to work with a group of 50 men. We'll provide the supplement
at no-cost for a period of 3 to 6 months and would like to follow-up
bi-monthly by phone to monitor progress.
Please email me if you are interested.

One of the problems with herbal supplements is that they
are entirely unregulated and the contents are sometimes
not revealed.
It would be dangerous for men to take supplements whose
contents are not precisely stated and validated.
Would you tell us what are the exact contents of your
supplement?
Is there an independent lab that has verified the contents?
What is the lab?
Thanks. |

Does Alan Meyer seriously believe that lowering PSA is beneficial for
men diagnosed with PCa? If so, what benefit does he have in mind? |

I'm not expecting any benefit at all. It's hard for me
to imagine that "Ayurvedic Herbal Supplements" are anything
but quack remedies designed to lower the bank balances of
men who have more money than brains.
I just thought I would give Sanju a chance to show that perhaps
he's not the low-life snake oil salesman that he appears to
be.
But alas, he has not taken the bait. I didn't expect that
he would.

Safire...Perhaps I'm missing your point, but reduction of PSA can be a
good sign for a man with PCa. PSA reduction implies that either 1)
the level of PSA production and/or secretion into the bloodstream per
cell has been reduced, and/or 2) the number of cells producing PSA has
been reduced. The latter path would be beneficial for men with
PCa...ron |

It is my understanding that increased PSA may be a symptom of PCa, BPH,
prostate infection or other things. "Lowering PSA" using supplements, as
OP suggested, could possibly reduce the number of cells producing PSA;
does that also reduce or eliminate the cancer or cancer risks? |

Yes, but a more-or-less regularly increasing PSA is an indication of
PCa.

IMO, nothing completely eliminates cancer or cancer risk. However,
reducing the number of cancerous cells, by whatever means - radical
treatment, drugs or supplements, is a good thing and will, to some
degree, extend the time until the cancer overwhelms the body. Some
drugs or supplements will only change the porosity of the cell
membrane, or remove biochemical precursors needed for PSA formation.
Such substances will lower PSA without affecting the cancerous cell
population. Other substances can kill prostatic cells, both benign
and cancerous, and to whatever extent the cancerous cell population is
reduced, that is a good thing...ron |

So where all all the studies on Finasteride(propecia) etc to actually
evaluate some of these issues regarding reduction of psa levels vs
effect on prostate ca itself? jeff B. |

==> It would seem to me that if someone has discovered how to determine
effects on prostate cancer, there is no further reason for PSA. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
