Hey J and the support group,
Thanks for all the support and help...
I sure am miffed a bit as you missed my name in the list!! hahaha....
Was infected with cancer of the nasopharynx, diagnosed
in March 08.....aged 44......I went through 2 chemo cycles of 5 days
each followed by 39 daily sessions of Radiation treatment....during
the radiation treatment, I was given weekly one dose of Chemo for 6
weeks...my treatment completed on 3rd July08.
Well, last week, out of the blue, I had swelling on my left side of
the face with pain (I had lymph node swelling in the neck on the left
before the treatment)....hit the panic button and contacted my rad-
onco pronto.....he prescribed antibiotics and yes, the pain/swelling
did subside now down to a pea size. He has advised me to do a CT scan
next week to rule out any recurrence and to be on the safe side....
I feel confident that this is just a passing phase and nothing much to
worry about.......
Rest all is going on well.....blood counts are normal with haemoglobin
slightly low at 11.0....i have started my walks and generally keeping
busy with family....enoying life......

Rob has had one chemo treatment for his GBM (stage 4 brain cancer) and goes
in for his second on Monday. I have to remember to dig up the tax records
for the center. They want proof that Rob receives military and social
security disability. After his first treatment we had a couple of days of
occasional vomiting. Rob still gets bouts of diarrhea, and is a little
unsteady on his feet at times. I wasn't feeling good earlier this week and
moved into my son's room for a couple of days. I learned a lot about
enforcing quarantine if I get seriously ill. Not a good thing.
Anyway, Rob is incredible. He loves the aviation pictures he gets from one
of the alumni from one of the units he was stationed in. I save them for
him so that he can look whenever he wants. He tells me all about the
aircraft and I'm starting to get as air happy as he is.

Hi Pam,
I wonder if Rob can tell us how suitcases go astray.
I think it might have to do with total weight, once passengers and luggage are
boarded.
On the other hand, maybe the coffee bell rings and the luggage handlers drop
everything and tell the plane to take off. <g> Seriously, I'm glad you're
enjoying his love of aircraft.
I imagine losing fluids in diarrhea can maybe cause unsteadiness. <don't know
actually>
It's good to read you're feeling better and out of quarantine now.
One would think they keep records, but I suppose getting current re-verification
is their goal.
Good luck with the paperwork and hopefully his reaction to the next treatment is
not as bad.
Take care,
J

Wow, your leaking elbow has been going on since January! Have you had
a proper work up, there maybe several medical conditions that delay
wound healing such as smoking , obesity, or diabetes.
Take care of yourself..... |

onto Christmas next, I am in need of some Christmas Pudding to keep my

Hello Peter,
You painted such a joyous picture with your words, it cheered me up all day
yesterday.
As Autumn approaches and the days get shorter, I get gloomy, missing the sun..
Now I have something to look forward to, Christmas and hopefully good cheer and
puddings.
Hopefully we'll both get our wishes, eh?
Thanks so much and Happy Belated birthday.
Hopefully you'll prove them wrong and still be here for the next one.
I wish it.

and TB but nobody's tested the fluid (which might come up false negative, since
I think some of the fluid is inflammation, burns when it drains, and some may be
synovial?, dunno. It's clear and slightly greasy..
There's a sinus behind the elbow above the bursa - a complication of bursitis,
I'm told.
With a pinprick hole and the larger hole which started with cracked and bleeding
skin in October.
The more I use my arm, the more fluid collects, then leaks out.
Its offtopic and I don't feel like wasting my arm on me (more details), on this,
because I need my arm for other things.
But thanks.
