| | | Ciao for real I appreciate the folks who have been kind here and those of you who use tact
when being honest with me.
Thank you for being so helpful throughout my husband's illness. I wish you
all well and will keep you in my prayers.
I will probably drop in to lurk to see how you're all doing, but I don't
have enough space in my heart for anymore hurt right now, and the feeling is
very strong that someone intentioanlly throws cyber darts at it in one way
or another.
When I see myself lashing back out, then I know it's time to step back and
opt for peace of mind. I've had enough and am throwing in the towel.
I hope that in any of my posts that I didn't offend anyone, and if I did,
I'm sorry. I'm not the most computer savvy person in the world, as you all
know. I have never knowingly crossposted and don't even subscribe to all the
groups that I have been accused of doing that at.
I have two bosses: God and my principal. I don't need another one.
Peace & Love to you wonderful people that have so much heart.

All the best to you Judy and your family, please let us know how you are
doing from time to time. I for one can say you never offended me, and
never once saw anything offensive in any of your post.

Goodbye, Judy,
May you be blessed by good fortune for the rest of your life. May your
children and grandchildren bring you joy and pride. May you live a long
and healthy life bringing honor to Don and your family.
I know I speak for the regulars when I say that it was our pleasure to
have been as helpful as we could during your trials.
There is no reason for you to linger here. Get on with life! Don would
have wanted it that way.
My best wishes,

Thanks every one of you!!! You've been my little family here that I have
felt close to even though I didn't personally know you all. You rode the
roller coaster with me since November, and I will never forget it. God

Hey Scott's mom!!!
I'm good...how are you? I'm mostly a lurker now, an outsider, not worthy.
But I'm keeping up with you all.

Hi J :-)
I've had a few bad days just lately, just been feeling very tearful and
down. I feel a bit better today though, it comes and goes. You know how
the grief thing goes.
It's nice to hear from you, even if it is just once in a while.
Best wishes.

You're something else, ya know. Thanks! I think it must be in the
weather...it's been a bit down here lately, too. It's hard to miss the ones
we love and frustrating because we can't control it.
Losing a child has to be the worst of all.
Peace to you,

I don't know what made you feel unwelcome here (I don't spend a lot of
time here anymore), but I hope you reconsider. Nobody here owns the
group, or is in any meaningful way the "boss". This is an unmoderated
group, and if someone makes you feel unwelcome, you can just killfile
them, never seeing another post by the offender. There are plenty
here who like you and respond, and likely more who like you and just
read.

Thanks ... I have been so supported by this ng, folks are real here and
kind. Only one made me feel unwelcome, and at that point, after my husband's
death, I wasn't up for the stress of the little jabs for me to go elsewhere
like a grief group or to be asked not to use the first letter of my name, as
if I were in some weird society with Big Brother focusing on my every move
and as if we have any ownership of the alphabet...If I am tired...I might
sign off with that letter...who freakin' cares, right.
I was accused of crossposting when I didn't even realize what that was or
how it happened or how the person came up with newsgroups that I allegedly
crossposted on that I don't even subscribe to.
Let's just say, at this time in my life, I need kindness not needling, and I
appreciate yours (kindness).
Peace & Love to you,
Judy

I find it odd that someone can post her deepest feelings here for
months, befriend and support other cancer victims and/or their loved
ones, and then be coldly dismissed when her loved one passes away.
Very odd indeed. Giudetta, no one can force you to stop participating
in this newsgroup. Don't give in to the bullies.

Thanks, Kathy! In days where things seem grim, you lifted my spirits. At
this ng, people are suffering and struggling enough without anyone causing
more strife, so I figure if I stay out of posts, they won't have to deal
with reading a bunch of nonsense from one that I assume just doesn't like
me...which is fne, I'm not in a popularity contest ... just sharing with
you all...
I didn't expect it and was a bit shocked everytime cyber darts were thrown
my way, but eventually I got it...people in my life don't do those things,
so I figure why go where someone does...why look for trouble, right.
So, I am almost paranoid about posting anything because I've become jab shy.
I've noticed that others here have lost someone and are still participating
and have not been reponded to in any unkind way, so I assume I'm just not in
the loop, clique or whatever. But the rest of you have been angels to me,
and you can't imagine how much that means to me right now.
Peace & Love to you and yours,
Judy |

| | | fao Giadutta : Re: Ciao for real Dear Judith/Guidutta,
If you tell me the e-mail reading software you are using, I think I can
advise you on how "kill-file."
But the "simplest" method is just not to open the mesages from people you
have decided you don't want to hear from.
In public forums like this, where people are coming from such very different
backgrounds, it's easy to get "crossed wires" and inadvertently tick
somebody off. The anonymity, the fact we don't often know anything about
each other's age-sex-race-background, all contribute to making it easier to
exhibit aggression.
imho the person who you reacted to most strongly does this (tweaking) at
random with a variety of people, in a variety of posts. Many groups like
this have "old-timers" who come to feel, after a while, they "own" the
group, know what's best for it ... at worst that they have the right to tell
other people how to talk or feel. And often they are, in fact, people who
have made tremendous contributions to the group, and who, with other people
that don't "punch their buttons," are very helpful.
Let me invite you to think compassionately of the person you perceived as
attacking you as someone who may be having a serious personal problem with
internet addiction, and may be exhibiting symptoms of burn-out. That's a
hypothesis.
Usenet groups remain a free-for-all, and, once founded, unless moderated,
have no method to control rudeness, trolling, etc.
In any case the only thing I ask you not to do is to ask me to live by what
I "preach"
