Default How to treat renal pelvis cancer???

Hi...

I am male, 60 years old, and was diagnosed renal pelvis cancer in my left
kidney which has already spread to the lymph nodes and the left lung. I just
finished my second chemotherapy and got bogged down by tiredness and some
other minor but unpleasant side effects. Anyway, there is nothing I can do
regarding the chemotherapy... but I'd like to try some kind of Chinese
herbal approach after the hospital treatment. Since I live in Japan, I know
my share about "kanpo" (herbal remedies). Many are good and effective, but
others are just a scam to rip off patients who are desperately holding onto
the last straw. The Japanese "health food" market (I throw the herbal
remedies into this category) is very badly regulated, has many loopholes,
and it is hard to really find and trust a shop that doesn't think big money
first!

Most of these remedies come from China, and Japanese middlemen do nothing
more than attach exaggerated statements, and add several 100% of profit.
That's how things are done here...

My wife has searched the Internet, called around and came across a medicine
called "tenseneki" (Tien Hien Liquid) which is produced in China and
exported to Japan as well as to several other countries. The Chinese
formulator with a doctor title is promoting his "all cure" medicine with the
help of Japanese companies and testimonials from Japanese cancer patients in
DVDs, videos, and glossy catalogues. It sounds all over-hyped, and the
remedy is excessively overpriced.

Anyway, finally I found a comprehensive critical overview of the Chinese
outlet "Tian Xian" and its hawked products from Ralph W. Moss, Ph.D., who
writes the "Moss Reports" (http://www.cancerdecisions.com/082904_page.html).
It was just in time before my wife was about to send BIG money down the
drain to the Hong Kong based sole agent!

Now I'd like how to get on from here if I don't want to become history in
the foreseeable future. What other options do I have? Any good lead is
appreciated.

One more question:

I am not sure whether I saw it on CNN or BBC, but there was a feature aired
about a herbal cancer medicine during the first half of April 2007. The
Chinese doctor (a different one and probably in his 60s) was shown and
explaining everything. Unfortunately I saw just the last part of it and
couldn't take any notes. Has anybody seen the feature of the Chinese doctor
and his enterprise in China? Of course, I'll ask CNN and/or BBC about it
too.

Best regards,
S. Rindler

Hello Sigi,
That's the way it goes. The internet and news is full of promises. We've not heard of
anything (alternative) "earth-shattering" for cancer.
Was your kidney removed? In some rare cases, spontaneous remission happens.
Kidney cancer patients usually try IL-2 or Interferon, not chemotherapy.
Are you on chemotherapy? I'm unclear what is being done for or to you.

Against my better judgement, check the herb/plant remedies here
http://www.mdanderson.org/departments/cimer/
MD Anderson is showing some "Reviews of Therapies".

Let's see if we clarify your current situation.
Keep in touch, please.

As a supplement to that, Ed's reviews will tell you some to ignore.
http://www.pathguy.com/altermed.htm

The "to ignore " list is endless...
People or websites or products...
http://www.quackwatch.org/01Quackery...cs/cancer.html
http://www.quackwatch.org/00AboutQua...h/altseek.html
Products...

Hang in there with us, we can talk about what you wish to accomplish.
I think kidney cancer is slower than some other cancers.
