Default I had linac treatment for my RCC brain tumors

......I had targetted stereotactic linac treatment for my RCC brain
tumors on th 6th August, and it was very successful. Painless, though
rather uncomfortable keeping perfectly still for an hour and a half.
I'm amazed and very pleased that there are no side-effects - none that
I can detect -at all.
Two of the tumors are in the part of the motor corteex (cortices??)
that affect my hands. I really expected to have some loss of motor
function; but no. Everything works perfectly.

I've written an account of it, with photographs, here: http://tonyjeffs.com

Best wishes to J, and to all.

It's wonderful to hear from you, Tony.
Thumbs up on the stereotactic.
Rumour has it that fatigue kicks in about 2 weeks after treatment and lasts a
few months.
Before that happens, you might want to read the following?
http://www.brainmetsbc.org/index.php?q=node/70 (random find - experiences)
and http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/default.asp?page=5350
on Interleukin.
5-star hotel <smile> Great report ! I'm so pleased all went well.
Your kindness to Mr. Grump is also noted.
Thank you for the update and webpage.
What's the plans now? Some leisure trips and some studying (you'd mentioned
earlier)?
Best wishes, Tony.

J

Congratulations, Tony, on your successful treatment, and thanks for the very
informative web-page which I am sure will be a comfort to other people
facing similar treatment.

best, Uncle Sally

Thanks Fig. :-)
Do you have rcc?

Hey My boss pointed out I cant spell ... I can really ( well a bit
better'n that ebsite anyway), but wanted keep the excited stream -of
concsiousness feel that I felt when I wrote it.

J, I'll be interested to see if the tiredness kicks in. I don't think
myself that it will with the treatment being specific rather than WBR.
Plus the 3mg dexamethasone makes it hard for me to be tired. We shall
see!

I still feel exactly the same as before treatment. My hands still have
occasional fits, but now due to the presence of dead tissue rather
than tumors in the motor cortex. I expect that will ease off as my
body gets used to the change and inflammation subsides. My doc wanted
me to reduce my dose of dex. I tried, but I can't just yet or the fits
get more forceful and more frequent. No hurry...
The only slight difference is in my Right hand. The fit used to rattle
my fingers, from the knuckles. Now it still rattles my fingers in
much the same way, but the 'pull' is from my wrist which is a bit more
uncomfortable. At least it proves something has been done.

The next step will be to ask for IL2.

Tony

Thanks for the update, Tony.
I hope you're more right than I about the fatigue.

Fig's husband was a regular here (Socks) - NSCLC (lung cancer) for 3 or 4
years.
She stays in touch with the newsgroup as able.

There's a Canadian, on another newsgroup, whose father has RCC.
he's 83 and was bleeding on and off.
Might be a late diagnosis - some confusion between doctors; one just advised
the other that it's not a polyp.
It's transitional kidney cancer.
I'll try to get him over here..

I'll be watching for your updates.
Best,
J
