| | | J... For some reason my McAfee virus scan does not let me 'reply' to posts, I can
'create' though so this is in response to your comments - More questions:
Is an "enhanced CT scan" the same as a CT scan with contrast, or something
different?
Also, when they removed my lung many lymph nodes came with it - how does the
lymphatic system react to this (or what is the can of worms as you put it)?
Could this be the reason for the pleural space effusion I had back in
December?
I would be interested in knowing what Betsy's SUV on PET was for that node
that will be radiated, I think if it is 7 or higher they consider it cancer.
Is radiation on a node a one-shot deal or does it involve many days of
radiation?

I have McAfee virus scan and I can reply to posts. Something else must

Tracey, maybe check your settings in McAfee? You may have something blocked.

I am testing this to see exactly what the 'error' says when I send...now it
probably won't do it. We have a free McAfee virus scan through comcast.net
so I think they set the settings; I see a firewall setting and it is set at
'standard'.

Give them a call next time it happens and ask them to check it for you. I am
trying to watch a movie and I get a pop up message telling me to update the

Tracey,
You just replied to a post (instead of making a new one), so it (your outlook
Express) must be working.
But as Betsy mentioned you might, at the same time, be getting an "update your
McAfee" message
These things pop out at us with no warning. So yes, write the message down OR
click on it, as long as you sure that it is a McAfee message. (if you're not
the one who does the updates on your computer, then hold the "click on it" and
tell the person who takes care of your computer for you).
Meantime, whenever there's a computer problem, I've always been told to
"Shutdown".
Then start it up again and see if the same problem occurs. You might want to
try that.
If it's an "update" advisory from one of your software, it will continue, on
and off , until you've paid attention to it. I don't see any new virus warning
on McAfee webpage, but each software has a regularly scheduled "update" day.
For one of my programs it's Thursdays. Instead of a popup, the icon goes grey.
Hopefully, I'll be back in the a.m.
Hugs to you.

Well, I'd have to start by asking what operating system you're running
and go from there.
I'd be happy to help if I can, but this is off topic for this group.

I understand "enhanced CT scan" to be the exact same thing as "CT with contrast"
> Also, when they removed my lung many lymph nodes came with it - how does the
> lymphatic system react to this
It's normal in most types of lung cancer to remove some lymph nodes. That helps
with the staging and I suppose the hope is that removing a certain amount, of
nodes, *may* prevent the cancer from spreading. I think what they look like on
scans and the location of the primary tumor determines which, if any lymph nodes
are removed. [watch for clarfification if I'm wrong}
There's usually no problems doing this.
People with lung cancer are prone to pleural effusions, so no removing the lymph
nodes is unlikely to have caused that.
> (or what is the can of worms as you put it)?
Why people, who have been diagnosed with cancer previously, and treated, are
getting serial scans and treatment of enlarged lymph nodes, unless they're being
problematic (as in pain or risk causing trouble, to the port, if they enlarge
further) or unsightly.

The rest of the questions were for Betsy.
Hope this helps and watch for replies from Steph if he feels differently about
anything I've written here.
