seems to suggest that ketamine (<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketamine>) may
help to reduce the incidence of dry mouth in cancer patients. Unfortunaly
there is no asbtract, and the article itself is restricted to the
subscribers and paying customers. Has anyone access to the article?"
I think that using a dis-associative hallucinogenic anaesthetic would be
quite dangerous. This is the drug, I recall, that Dr. John Lilly used to
turn himself into a mental vegetable, joining other distinguished
self-medicating luminaries, such as Dr. Tim Leary, who had arrived at
neurological melt-downs before him, or in parallel with him.
Now if the study said that very low doses, which did not have the effects
for which "Special K" is famous for, or doses in combinaton with
anti-psychotic medications worked absolute miracles with dry mouth : I would
hope research would continue.
I wouldn't let a vet use it on my cat, either
best, Uncle Sally.
